Discuss, and please be careful with your recs as to both poster and source.

(31,112 posts)That there is that small part of us that just doesn't believe they really exist or if they did surely we/I could figure it out and they could not manipulate me.
NOT ME, I am too damn tuned in and smart. So even when there is a hint that one is doing it, I will attack the liberal calling them out, cuz that is what a good democrat would do?
Think about it folks.
I was told on a youtube chat of a liberal talk show host that the theory that the reason Russia is doing all this is because after the supposed end of the cold war WE kept fighting it, they didnt, and this is their retaliation.
That nonsense is being pushed out there and I have had so called progressives tell me it is a valid topic.

(24,324 posts)On the other hand, I have never had an OP go to the greatest page.
Probably because my OPs aren't that great.

(24,324 posts)Oh! You say you want sheer "balls to the wall", gangbusters, take no prisoners, chops to spare, winner take all, pure fun??? (fun only if you have an orchestra with players with technique to spare)
Well, do I have the 3 minutes and 25 seconds for you! With a special little treat at the end....
Myung Whun Chung and the TOKYO Philharmonic, said to be "only" the 2nd best orchestra in Tokyo, after the NHK. Some kinda of gala concert..

(1,202 posts)it's not just obvious typos, it's wrong tenses, which vs witch etc and awkward sentence structures. Oh, and most obvious, the divisive messaging. I tend to wonder too about the OP that never responds to a whole long thread of questions....the one and done poster.

(1,835 posts)But have you seen many poor grammar posts on DU? On Twitter, they are abundant. However, I don't see many poor grammar posts here. It may just be that I click on the "horserace" posts more than the substantive ones.
Although, more importantly, this raises one of my biggest concerns: We REALLY need to get the Russian trolls under control here at DU before the 2018 and 2020 midterm and presidential elections respectively, as the republic's survival is at stake and we really can't afford to be divided by Evgeni in Vladivostok.

(7,809 posts)No non-native speaker would mix up "which" and "witch." That's what natives do. Same with verb tenses and subject and verb conjugation.
You're right about the one and done poster, but trolls often hang around for a few hours drilling their divisive message in, too.
But there are a couple obvious signs. I won't go into them here because I don't want to tip them off, but it has to do with errors that no native speaker would make.

(1,835 posts)I never knew that posters on here confused witch when they should be using which. LOL. That's hilarious. Again, totally could see that on Twitter though. Good idea not to tip them off also. BTW, WE KNOW that the Russians target DU. That's why they took us down on Election Day 2016.

(51,308 posts)Often by high count posters, so Im not gonna assume everyone with a poor command of the English language is a troll.

(7,809 posts)Native speakers make some common mistakes. Everyone knows the they're-their-there example (just one of many) that many people make so it is not an indicator. I myself use who when whom is correct and I'm not ashamed. I mentioned which-witch only because the post I was replying to used that as an example. That might happen if the poster is using speech software, but it doesn't seem likely.
I've taught English to people who don't speak it natively. Certain patterns of unusual language usage emerge depending on a learner's native language. I'm not saying that the use English incorrectly, just that they use patterns that a native speaker would not use.
