As a Floridian, we regularly get shat upon. Some of it deservedly so. Some of it not.
I really get sick of the regional stereotypes about the South and Texas. Yes, SOME of our citizens are "impaired" to put it politely, but the rest of us, especially Democrats and liberals, are not.
I don't indulge in stereotypes about other parts of the country, because I know they are odious. They are also false.
In solidarity with the good DU'ers from Alabama. I feel your pain.

(3,741 posts)Seems that the good people of Alabama are happy being first in everything bad (i.e. poverty, obesity, racism) and last in everything good (i.e. education, healthcare, renewable energy). Alabama is failing and falling behind the rest of the country, kind of reminds me of the way things were in 1960's. The folks there seem to have a chip on their collective shoulder by not wanting to take any advice from fellow Americans about Roy Moore. They don't want to change .... that is why Alabama is criticized.

(37,457 posts)That's who you're really talking about. Let's be specific.
I'm sure the Democrats would be more than happy to change things, but the Republicans basically run that state, just like Florida.

(21,110 posts)we deserve MOST of the sterotypes. The number of idiots here who always vote for repugs is disheartening. What I fear in this upcoming special election is lethargy.
