I need to apologize to all about my deleted post from yesterday

I posed the question about where people would want to leave, e.g.. Canada, UK, Australia, because we are losing. It was wrong and no excuses can make it right

I'm just getting really scared. Net Neutrality gone, the Kochs buying Time, Franken getting killed in the press, the smirk of Sessions, and of course the bully in chief; t's all too much sometimes.

I just hope that people who are not politically aware like we are on DU see the dangers we see.

Again, sincere apologies from my callous view of the USA. We just have to keep fighting the good fight even when it seems the darkest.

I love America, but if Medicare and Social Security are cut to the bone,
will have to look at other options.

This recent one I do not find why that topic would be considered "bad". Everyone has been saying the same thing since Nov 8th, 2016.

Nazis in the street, people being murdered with machine guns as they go
about their daily business. Who knows what will happen to retirement, housing, taxes? Will Trump start a nuclear war?

My grandparents were immigrants to the US for a better life. Not sure why that is a bad topic.

If anyone has been following the situation in the USA, read up on current events and paid even a little attention, they’d know that things don’t look good right now. I mean as far as our governing bodies and entities that are supposed to keep this country running and functioning in our best interest.

Some people look at unemployment numbers or the stock market and conclude that things are on the upswing. Or they take comfort with the fact that tRump has had little success legislatively. But that is a false sense of security. Behind the scenes and through executive orders we are being undermined at every turn. Look at the cabinet and ways they have worked to undo a lot of the things President Obama tried to do to protect the ordinary people in this country. Little by little, they have eliminated or weakened things designed to help protect us so that corporations and rich people have advantages.

I have seriously thought about where we’d go to escape some of the serious degradations going on inside of our government that will not serve us well. Mostly it was just day dreaming but there was serious intent underneath my day dreams. I have no trust that tRump is doing anything in our best interest. He is (in my opinion and others, too) a puppet of Putin who will sell us out for his own selfish reasons. Nothing good can come from his time in office. Nothing. That is because his reasons for being there were corrupt from the beginning.

So if the original post was expressing fears and doubts about where we are headed as a country, then I would have to admit my fears probably match. I don’t think I am wearing a tinfoil hat (at least on most days) but I can read and understand that something really sinister seems to be driving tRump. There is too much evidence already out and more emerging that a coup took place right under our noses. No one wants to believe it, including me, but the evidence seems pretty credible. I guess we will know more after Mueller completes his investigation.

No one wants to believe we could be undermined and taken over by someone of Putin’s reputation. But those who have studied him and know how he thinks and operates have no doubts he would do anything to reduce our standing in the world. He has used murder and strong arm tactics against any perceived enemies in Russia. So why would anyone think he would stop at his own borders to achieve his goals? Only someone naive or uninformed would make those assumptions.

So I don’t blame anyone for looking at our current situation and having doubts or fears that things are rapidly changing in the USA. And not in a good way. My biggest concern is even with all of its flaws, is our country the best deal going for us? Or is there another place that is affordable, safe and a decent place to live out what remains of my life? I have traveled a little bit to Europe and enjoyed my time there. But going as a visitor/tourist is one thing. Living there is quite another. So the dilemma continues. Stay or go?

I think all of us are just stumbling along, trying to find answers, looking for some truth to what is happening. For most of us, we don’t want to find that something terrible happened to our country on Nov. 8, 2016. Something so bad that we believe our whole way of life and governance is at risk. But if it IS true, we just want options. Is that such a bad thing? To be concerned enough for your own well being that you think leaving is in your best interest? I don’t think so.

Some of us started on this line of thinking well before last year. Bush's re-election in 2004 prompted a surge in page views for websites with information about immigration to Canada.

But if people think you can just pick up and move to another country, they are sadly wrong.

One must have a great deal of documentation that one will be able to work or support themselves completely. There are any number of hoops to jump through with most countries Americans would want to move to permanently. Go online and check out immigration to Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, etc.

I’m lucky because I have a dual nationality, but if you don’t...good luck. You will need to prove you have needed skills, an occupation/profession that is valued, or as I said, show you can support yourself without any help.
