of how to deal with this.
I hope others that are accused will follow suit. No excuses, no arguing, no victim bashing. Just regret and a promise to reflect and do better.
Great job Al.

(3,515 posts)The accuser agreed to play a part. Being kissed by someone was part of the role, and we know that she allowed herself to be kissed by someone who was either playing the part of a stranger (a random soldier) or a stranger on stage.
We will have no romantic or satire of romantic comedy if the USO story is considered to be harassment.

(4,341 posts)I am confused about the allegations against Franken.
It seems that three or four women have come out saying that he "groped" them during photo-op shootings. By the definition on the subject line, how did he "grope" them? If all he did was place his hand on their butts, and I have to think that maybe, due to his height and the many people around, his hand may have been lower than expected, but from that to groping, which Trump has been explicitly accused of by many women, how does it translate to Franken?
I have to expand on the part of "feel", I don't think it is intended to be confused with "placing", feel means moving your hand around to get a "feel"...
Please correct me if I am wrong.

(7,530 posts)legitimate sexual gratification. I mean, football players pat each other on the ass because (I've been told) apparently that's the most appropriate place to attaboy someone where they aren't covered by padding and they will feel it. I guess when you're wrestling around in sweaty piles of large men all the time, you're not sensitive to casual butt contact.
I remember being around some extended family, and there were several men who had this thing for "goosing" people. If you've never experienced that particular form of comedy, it's literally poking someone between their butt cheeks through their pants to make them jump while they were bent over or otherwise distracted. They were literally going around poking each other in the butt hole for comedic purposes.
They did it to each other, they did it to their wives, and they did it to us kids occasionally if they had a good shot. It got to the point where at the barbecue or a group campout, you'd always check around you before bending over to pick up something off the ground. It always happened in a big group because that was funnier. Everyone would hoot and holler and nobody thought anything of it except "look how high he jumped!" If they could get someone to fall in the lake, even better.
At no point did anyone think anyone was molested when they did it. It was a dumb, embarrassing joke, and you rolled your eyes and went about your business.
I know that concept is totally weird now, but we all come from different places.

Did he just accidentally brush them as he placed his arm around their waist or shoulders to take the photo?
It is too easy to accuse anyone of touching another person. I'm sure I could be accused of something similar and I am a woman. Context matters. The accusers must come forward and share the complete story. What happened before? What happened after?
I used to investigate child sexual abuse. There was a protocol that must be followed when interviewing children. Where were they, who was in the room, what did they do, etc.
Anyone can accuse anyone of anything - there needs to be details about what happened in order to better determine whether or not it really happened.
