about rep Conyers

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/21/us/politics/conyers-sexual-harassment-democrats-pelosi.html

He has already handed over much of the day-to-day committee work to staff aides and other Democratic members in recent years, and has often appeared disoriented. In at least two separate occasions — once at a United Automobile Workers event in Michigan and once at a meeting of top Democrats on Capitol Hill — Mr. Conyers showed up wearing pajamas, according to two people familiar with the incidents.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Conyers said she had “no knowledge this ever occurred.”

if the pj thing is true, rep Conyers has a responsibility to groom his successor for that representative seat like NOW

He should leave the choice of a replacement to an open Primary.

there would be nothing wrong with him " grooming" someone he felt could carry on his legacy

but of course every election should be open ,honest, and transparent

2. And yet, it took a sexual harassment scandal to get him to relinquish his chair on Judiciary

This is how our seniority rules (or lack thereof) suck. If committee chairs were term limited (yes, like the Republicans do, and that happens to be one thing they do right as a Party) we wouldn’t have this problem.

He is in a very safe district that the Dem always wins handily. Based on past election results however, I would not be surprised if he would be re elected.

IMO, he should have retired a couple terms ago.
