Liz Warren has a family history that has some roots in being a Native American

This is a link to a 2012 story about Senator Warren that explains much of what is behind her understanding about her heritage. After reading this 5 year old article in the Boston Globe, anyone with a brain will understand that Warren has a recollection of what was told to her by her parents and other relatives. Remember, people were reluctant during that time to associate as Native American. It was no badge of honor. But, obviously, her siblings remember the same stories. A person would have to be an asshole to ridicule anyone who had those memories. And, the story documents, that Sen. Warren never got placement or advancement for her heritage. Oh, and by the way, our Moron in Chief is an asshole.

<snip>David Herring of Norman, Okla., one of Warren’s three brothers, said in an interview that even when he was a child his relatives were reluctant to talk about the family’s Native American heritage because “it was not popular in my family.” Only when he begged his grandparents, said Herring, did they finally explain to him: “Your grandfather is part Delaware, a little bitty bit, way back, and your grandmother is part Cherokee. It was not the most popular thing to do in Oklahoma. [Indians] were degraded, looked down on.”

Warren’s brothers, Don, John, and David Herring, also issued a joint statement supporting their sister. “The people attacking Betsy and our family don’t know much about either. We grew up listening to our mother and grandmother and other relatives talk about our family’s Cherokee and Delaware heritage. They’ve passed away now, but they’d be angry if they were around today listening to all this.”<snip>

not get elected to statewide office if you didn't have some native heritage. iows - you could not be trusted to do the right thing for Oklahomans.

Sen. Inhofe is proof that that the white man can't be trusted.

I wonder if Elizabeth Warren or her brothers have done any DNA testing. I have done it for my genealogy studies and found I am about 0.7% Native American through my French-Canadian great grandparents who were Metis from the Red River Valley of Manitoba (future Winnipeg). I have written documentation supporting this, too.

I would love it if Senator Warren could prove her Native American heritage!

DNA doesn't lie, and she could prove it.

I have about the same amount of NA that you do, .07. The rest is (mostly northern) European. I had found a possible Mohawk NA ancestor that went back to the 1600's (which is in line with the percentage I was given), and the DNA result verified it.

On edit: She HAS had a DNA test done, 1/16th NA-Cherokee.

My older sister was tested by National Geographic's gene project and showed a small amount of Native American DNA. had my DNA tested by Ancestry.com and showed nothing. Our little sister had her DNA tested by 23 & Me and showed none - but she showed Nordic ancestry that ours did not show.

There are some branches of our mother's family that claim American Indian ancestry. I've done a lot of research into my genealogy and found none. The most likely branch is one that hits a brick wall with John Tucker (1798-1889) - supposedly his wife Elizabeth is American Indian.

In the fifty years of research my mother, my oldest sister and I have done, there is no proof as to Elizabeth Tucker's heritage. My Tucker great grandfather looks as though he could have Indian blood - but then so does my great grandfather on my father's side who was born in Wales!

My Great Grandmother was 100% Native American. My sis had 23& me done and she has 2% Native American DNA. I could have 0% or 20%. The amount of DNA can vary from sibling to sibling.

family that ran the store on the Crow rez in Lodge Grass Montana.
She was sent to Spokane to school to be more white. That's where she met
my granddad, the old lecher. She gave birth to my mom in 1908 in Cheney, Wa.
So I figure I'm one eighth Crow. I sent my 23andme sample in last month.
The rest should be: one half Irish, three eighths English. I guess I'll soon know.
Proud to be part Indian!

MY great Grandmother was 100% Native American. My sister had a 23 & me test done and she is 2%. I could have a different % or no Native American DNA at all.
