Brace myself for road closures and mayhem every year. Planned accordingly today. Only thing? Absolutely no foot traffic all day. Was at meeting most of day near WH, 16th Street, popped outside to stretch legs a few times, left at 4:30 for nearby drinks and dinner, hit Metro at 7:30, that station is the WH metro station BTW, and....NADA. Just a normal afternoon and night in DC, with extra pleasant weather, and no crowds. If you didn’t know it was tree lighting night, you’d never know by the lack of people that usually crowd the streets and restaurants this time of year.

But, fake news, amirite?
