Is This any Way to Pass Legislation?

Senator Bob Casey @SenBobCasey- 2 hours ago - retweeted Ali Rogin:

That's right; the @SenateGOP is writing a new bill as we speak and will then introduce it as a 'substitute amendment,' essentially replacing the current bill without any hearings or analysis. This is no way to govern.
...
Ali Rogan @AliABCNews:

The Senate is literally still writing this bill as they prepare for a vote on it. Now discussing “stair-stepping” corporate tax rates, gradually raising them over a number of years. Not sure this counts as “regular order.”

come to their senses and vote against it. I thought Collins was the voice of sanity for the rethugs now. Maybe she will have a turn of heart and convince some others to follow.

As I write the republican senate is frantically trying to write legislation overhauling the very structure of our tax system. They want to force a vote tomorrow despite the fact that whatever they cobble together won't be analyzed or discussed. There probably won't even be an actual text of the legislation.

We are witnessing, first hand ... absolute power corrupting absolutely.
