(11,878 posts)just wait till we break out the torches and pitchforks for the march in January.

(4,292 posts)1. No tiki torches.
2. Should the pitchfork tines be sharpened, for easier and deeper penetration, or left dull and rusty for inflicting greater damage? (To hay bales, of course!)
Zoonart
(11,878 posts)Would you like to head the committee?
Fritz Walter
(4,292 posts)As attractive as your kind invitation is, I would gladly defer to someone more experienced in leadership of political upheaval.
That said (written), I would be happy and honored to serve on the Pitchfork SubCommittee, given my experience with that particular tool in gardening and compost. Perhaps in a leadership role, unless someone more experienced emerges. Again, professional guidance on sharpening/rustiness would be appreciated.
And there must be someone out there who knows something about torches.
Not to mention the leadership skills required to balance both tactical resources. I mean, after all, we're not like the brainless, neo-Nazi*, khaki-pantsed, white shirted, tiki-torch-wielding thugs who showed up in Charlottesville and elsewhere. C'mon, we must rise above them!
Besides, I'm holding down two part-time jobs that barely cover my health insurance premium.
See you at the next town meeting/rally/street-protest!
*Yes, I know: "brainless" and "neo-Nazi" are redundant, but they're added for emphasis.

(11,878 posts)I'll be the one in the red toque carrying the pike sporting Kathy Griffin's 45 mask. (just joking... I can't believe that I just typed that, but Sam Seder and all).
In the future we will not be famous for fifteen minutes...we will be famous for two minutes and apologizing for thirteen minutes. I wonder what Warhol would make of all of this. Anyway... I digress.
Have fun storming the castle.

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane
You lock the door And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
Wonder if that fear is running through a frightened orange head today

(9,696 posts)He's never faced consequences for his actions. He believes all he has to do is some softball lies and thing will go his way as they have for years. The only emotion he knows is anger.
Normal people would be scared in this situation. He's not a) normal, or b) scared.
Saying he's scared is underestimating his capacity for havoc, chaos, and revenge. It will get uglier and uglier.

(22,976 posts)45 is an absolute freak. He is without empathy. He is without love. He is all rage and hate. He does not exist in a world of facts and measurable reality. In short, hes delusional.
When under stress and agitated, the sickness quickly takes over. Hes so deluded that he seems to ENJOY being the object of so much vitriol, and he gets a charge from spreading his own hatred and discord; further, he has a Machiavellian distrust of most everyone. One minute hes praising someone to the skies, and the next, hes ready to publicly execute that same individual.
I also doubt that hes feeling any fear. If he actually believes his own bullshit (and there are indications that he does), he has no sense of impropiety and/or shame.
There is no way in hell that this extremist head-case will give up his crown voluntarily and quietly, even if presented with the bare facts, just as Barry Goldwater did (with great effect) to Richard Nixon decades ago.

(9,901 posts)Regardless of advice given him, I am sure he will do two things. First, he will fire Mueller, and second, he will instigate a distraction big enough to bury the resulting impeachment push.
It is my belief he will either attack North Korea, or have the New FBI Director Wray arrest Hillary, and try to stage a show trial.
The GOP will back him in both scenarios.
You really think these two things will happen? You dont think his administration or lawyers will talk him out of firing Mueller? That would be catastrophic.

(32,734 posts)Too many Republicans know that Cheeto is off his rocker. They're reading the same tweets we are, they can see it too. This has gone way too far already. I believe they're ready to turn their backs on him.
Yes a few of them are complicit - McConnell, Ryan and a few others. But they'll go down too. From the very beginning, this was all about getting the tax reform bill passed, not about Trump. He was just a useful idiot and now he's no longer useful.

(23,155 posts)They don't need him now, so will they keep him to sign cuts to Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid or just cut him loose first chance they get? I think if Pence isn't part of the charges, they cut him sooner rather than later
They got a little, now the republicans in congress will want more. They'll keep him because now they think they can control the parts of him they want to ---- and steer the ship towards more safety net cuts.

(28,125 posts)1. He cannot directly fire Mueller but will have to go through his AG who said he will not do it. Fire the AG and find someone who will, as Nixon did? Mueller probably has contingency plans for this scenario. He knows TRump's psychology well by now.
And there's always NY state AG with whom Mueller is sharing info.
2. A couple of DoD/Pentagon folks have said they will not comply with a launch order if it comes down. Whew, that was a relief to hear.

(23,739 posts)Gives Trump and his sycophants ammunition to call into question Mueller's investigation, Comey's investigation into HRC's emails and stoking his base about fake news. Will dominate news as media will tries to bend over backward to show how unbiased they are. Just when Mueller's investigation is gaining traction.

(7,434 posts)There are not parallel tracks of news and investigations. Mueller is going his own way. I wouldn't be surprise if Ty Cobb is directing Trumpy to ONLY watch Fox News. He can stay in his bubble and not be motivated to break loose the hounds of hell. FNC is now providing the bubble that we all need to stay minimally safe. As long as they keep it up with the propaganda, Trumpy will tweet more obstruction counts, but he'll remain in his psychological cage. Meanwhile, Mueller tightens his noose. Slowly.
