"SNIP..........
Doug Jones, candidate for Alabama US Senate was in Tuscaloosa today. Visiting his campaign offices, speaking with voters, the media, supporters, and volunteers. I was watching MSNBC and the reporter was blown away by all the support for Doug Jones. A volunteer came in and took several 100 signs to hang up in 4 counties to the west of Tuscaloosa.
Doug Jones has a large campaign war chest to set up infrastructure. We are 9 days out, and it is full throttle ahead for this campaign. Doug Jones is running a great campaign machine, They have canvassers going house to house. All over the state of Alabama. He is opening offices, or has them already in operation in every major city. This game is for real. The democrats are seeing energy that hasnt been seen nor heard of in well, forever honestly.
The reporter for MSNBC seemed kind of stunned, and sure didnt think it felt like a losing strategy, or losing campaign. The exact opposite vibe was happening, happy people excited and dedicated to helping the campaign anyway they could. Once again, a lot of smiling faces, enthusiastic supporters. Meanwhile, Dougs opponent from what I heard, had 6 people working on his campaign. I just saw one of his commercials, and it was all deny, long career, 40 years too long for accuser to accuse, and oh yeah, wall, taxes, god.
I just laughed, it was especially funny when they showed a comic graphic of the capital dome, spewing money. Claiming evil Mitch McConnell was plotting with the Democrats to keep the ole boy down. And Mitch just changed his tune, so the commercial is already out of step. I always thought its true: Judge the candidate by how they run their campaign. A well run campaign reflects a leader who knows how to get stuff done. Doug Jones is running a tight, organized, focused campaign. The money donated is being put to good use, with billboards, campaign offices, signs, canvassers, phone bankers, radio and TV, web advertising, and be everywhere. Dougs wife is also holding more intimate meetings with democratic womens organizations.

(5,210 posts)Any state that wants a good Dem turnout ought to follow Virginia's lead and go the paper ballot route. MUCH harder to rig the vote with paper ballots.

(347 posts). . . abortion will sink him.
58% of Alabamans believe abortion should be illegal in all cases and you can bet those 58% will vote for Moore . . . and they will turn out.

(10,109 posts)With all the corruption in the party of racists and deplorable people, I am not feeling optimistic at all. A "liberal Democrat" is worse than a child predator. Like Doug Jones is some kind of radical lefty. There's only one of those in the Senate, and he's not even a member of the party.

(2,064 posts)There are going to be a lot of republicans disgusted enough with Moore to sit this one out.
Thats my hope anyway.

(111,110 posts)Because most of Moore's supporters are also Trump supporters.
Trump is in a weaker political position at the moment than Moore.
He should tie Moore to Donald Trump.
That is a strategy he might think about?

(30 posts)Enthusiasm here is great. There are 100 Jones yard signs to one of Moores. However, this is Alabama and the regressive here will vote in droves for their pedophile. Im doing all I can to make sure everyone who isnt crazy actually vote. This will be the best chance ever for a Democrat in years to win, so please if there is anything at all you could do, please do it.

(7,238 posts)Sure. Until Doug Jones stands for re-election in 2020. This election is to fill out what was left of Session's term as Senator. That a far cry from changing an entire state. Esp. Alabama.

(5,445 posts)From the latest CBS poll:
"The Senate contest looks to be highly dependent on turnout. Moore has a lead over Democrat Doug Jones, 49 percent to 43 percent, among the likely voters who are most apt to vote on Dec. 12. Among all registered voters, the contest is even. And nearly a quarter of voters still describe themselves as "maybe" or "probably" going to vote."

(4,449 posts)It'll be Ossoff all over again. Are Alabamans so extreme and stupid that they'd rather vote RePedophile than Democratic? You bet your ass they are... and they will.
