GOP bill would eliminate student loan forgiveness for public service- the Hill

A bill from House Republicans would end a program that forgives student loans for graduates who enter public service, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

The GOP bill to reauthorize the Higher Education Act, introduced by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) on Friday, would eliminate the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which erases student debt for those who work for qualifying employers after making payments for 10 years.

The GOP thinks public service is a joke. It is for them, it’s only a power trip. What soulless anti American pricks they are. This should be in an ad for every millennial group.

Given how the GOP trashes public service-I wonder how long before military recruitment starts to bottom out. Why would you serve in Pharaoh‘s army? I mean this bill is just what they think of the rubes who serve.

This program is the only thing keeping me from total poverty forever. Two doctorates for nothing.

I think people like us are grandfathered if this goes through. But new graduates will be fucked.

I read something several weeks ago to that effect, when the threat of this was first mentioned, so have been clinging to hope. Not that it will do me much good, as I've been unable to secure full time employment in academia, so I'll be going to the for-profit world soon.

They are being sued...there were agreements and people received letters that the agreements were void...I saw them myself.
