Would you like to visit Jerusalem?

Would you feel safer visiting Jerusalem today than yesterday?

Many Americans will probably not get to see the Holy City because of the dangerous actions of Donald J Trump?

It will simply not be safe for Americans to visit anymore.

Maybe they can build a wall and drop a few Americans in at a time?

If I go, since he also speaks German and French, and we always speak German around my wife anyway, we'd just all speak German while there. I'll just have to make a note not to use English until I'm in the plane back to Europe.

The State Department has both Hardship Pay and Danger Pay. In Afghanistan, for example, you could receive 35% of your base pay for Hardship (of the posting area) and another 35% of your base for Danger Pay. So you could get close to double of your base pay.

I'd probably go to Hong Kong or Tokyo instead - maybe Bruxelles. Who is paying?

If I am paying I look forward to my trip to Central Florida.

It was going through a time of relative safety, although we did encounter a couple of (possible) terrorist attempts (somewhat long story). Anyway, it was an awesome experience. We went all through the Old City, saw Bethlehem, floated in the Dead Sea and so much more! I'm glad we had that opportunity, because no way would I risk going there now, especially with children.

Once during one of the "intifadas". I was not with a group and felt safe the entire time. Would do it another time if the opportunity presents itself.

17. US issues travel warning for Jerusalem's Old City, West Bank amid embassy dispute

The U.S. has ordered government staff to avoid Jerusalem’s Old City and the West Bank over fears of protests surrounding President Trump’s decision whether to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The State Department said in a Tuesday statement that government officials and their families “are not permitted until further notice” to make personal trips to those areas, given “widespread calls for demonstrations” starting Wednesday.

“Official travel by U.S. government employees in Jerusalem’s Old City and in the West Bank is permitted only to conduct essential travel and with additional security measures,” according to the statement, which was distributed by the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem.

Americans were also warned to “avoid areas where crowds have gathered and where there is increased police and/or military presence.”
