If Franken resigns, Dayton would appoint someone to serve until the next scheduled election, 2018

If for no other reason, if Franken wants to resign he should only do say after 2018, because the next scheduled election then would be 2020

Do we really want to take the chance that a Norm Coleman will occupy that seat?

People seem to think that the person will serve until 2020 when the term is up. But that's not the rules for Minnesota.

We only really get until the primary. And the GOP's eyeing this seat like no other.

I quit. I won't support a party that engages in self defeating behavior, shows no sign of fortitude and is constantly the GOPee's best weapon. Shit gibbon and Moore and how many other molesters and rapists that make up the GOPee whistling Dixie and living it up while our Democratic leaders and even some here take a hard whack at their own foot.

DEMOCRATS are already helping the GOPee. Elected, current Senators of the Democratic party are helping the GOPee right this very instant and with me doing nothing at all, I'll already be doing less to help the GOPee than they are, right this very minute.

You are angry because Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot. I get that. I am angry at that too. But don't look now because your reaction makes YOU a Democrat shooting yourself in the foot.

Gillibrand is my Senator. I called her to say I am pissed and that she should shut the hell up until there is a hearing.

But given the choice between her and a Republican in the next election, who do you think I'm going to vote for?

There is STILL no contest. When you say you will not vote for Dems, you imply that there is. There just isn't.

I already double-checked on Ballotopedia. The Governor appoints a replacement until the end of the elected term, which would be the end of 2020.

I also checked out some of the possible choices for appointment. The two that I think would be the best choices would be State AG Lori Swanson or former US Attorney/ATF Director Todd Jones. Both have a good background in law and political matters, which is possibly the most important qualification to consider right now.

11. Here is what Newsweek said
Wed Dec 6, 2017, 04:32 PM
Dec 2017

"If he were to resign within the next few months, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton would appoint someone to take his seat. The appointed senator would serve until the next scheduled election, at which time there would be a special election to choose a successor, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Minnesota's next statewide contest takes place in November 2018.
If Franken waited to resign until just before the 2018 primary, the governor would appoint someone, and the state would vote on a successor in November 2019, according to Minnesota law."

Vacancies Filled by Gubernatorial Appointment
In the following 36 states, the governor makes an appointment to fill a U.S. Senate vacancy, and the appointee serves until the next regularly-scheduled, statewide general election. The person elected at that next regularly-held general election serves for the remainder of the unexpired term, if any. If the term was set to expire at that general election, the person elected serves a full six-year term.

The next scheduled election for that Senate seat is Nov. 2020. Amy Klobuchar's seat is the one due for an election in 2018.

he was handsey, and had a tendency to glue his eyes to the chests of attractive women, even as he was talking to them.

I know of at least one woman who had him proposition her.

Not going to happen; he's an East Coast carpetbagger, who only ran as a Democrat in order to win in liberal St. Paul.
