Obama wins second term, Supreme Court goes Left

Lets see how some of these insane gun laws survive. I'm sure the gun people will buy every round of ammo and every gun the makers can make because of the paranoia extension, but I look forward to changes that stop the insanity this country is heading for.

When you can buy 30 and 60 round magazines under the premise of hunting, something is clearly wrong.

Anyone who claims to be a gun expert who says they need more than 9 rounds in a handgun or 15 in a semi-auto rifle has no excuse other than paranoia.

There are no zombies folks, the Zombie Apocalypse isn't coming, and for most of you, zombies can't use guns.....

election, we would have had two more Scalito's on the court and this country would have been completely fucked for at least the next 30-40 years and may never have recovered.

Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy, Alito, or Roberts?

One of those must be replaced if the court is to move to the left.

Who knows when someone would get sick or die from a stroke or heart attack. The chatter seems to be that Ginsberg may retire if she can get replaced by a Dem POTUS.

It is just as likely that Romney would get to replace someone someone from the liberal block. Just imagine a Supreme Court adding another Alito, Scalia or Thomas. What a nightmare.

Ginsberg is on the way out. Many expected her to go last year. It isn't a good bet that all the conservatives won't hold on until 2017. It is possible but unlikely. They get great health care.

would hold on to his seat out of spite if Obama won re-election. Alito, Roberts & Thomas are all still relatively young.

That leaves Kennedy as the only possible retiree out of the conservative bloc. Of course, somebody could die as well.

Has successfully happened exactly zero times. Justice Samuel Chase was close back in 1805, but whereas the House impeached him the Senate acquitted. He died while still serving on the USSC.

Roberts and Alito are relatively young and no one has suggested that Thomas or Kennedy are in poor health or thinking of leaving. There were comments that Scalia seemed rather weird in his comments - but that does not mean he would be removed.

Instead, Ginsburg is the one most commonly spoken of as maybe retiring in the next 4 years.

That said no one can really predict the future health or desire to serve of any of the 9 justices.

Then, it would be a lurch. There would be three left of center votes and six right of center. There would be no more "swing" vote in the middle.

But i'm going to point it out.

Most forms of hunting have, in most or all states, magazine size limits while hunting. For instance, most or all states limit you for deer to five rounds in the weapon. An example, Michigan limits you to 1 round in the chamber, and 5 in the magazine. You must either use a 5 round mag, or place a wooden dowel in the mag so it cannot be physically loaded with more than 5 rounds.

Thats why five round mags are so common.

I disagree. My daily carry gun holds 15+1, and I'm not terribly paranoid about anything, except parking too close to people who don't get their car in the stall straight.

Hunting isn't related to the large capacity Beta-C mag that the theater shooter used.

It might help your point if you don't go all random/error on details.

With the appointments Obama has made so far,
the over-all makeup of the Supreme Court has moved decidedly further to The Conservative Right.

Unashamed Liberal Justice John Paul Stevens was replaced by a "moderate" (Elena Kagan)
who so far has sided with conservatives on several important issues.

If Ginsberg is replaced by a "moderate" acceptable to the Republicans in another gesture of Bi-Partisanship,
the court will take another step to the right.
It just won't be as bad as it would be if the Republicans get to make that appointment.
