Trump will fire Mueller. Its actually the pragmatic decision for him.

I hate to say it, but I’m honestly starting to think that from a coldly pragmatic perspective, Trump should fire Mueller.

The risks for him don’t appear all that high to me - some Republicans would wring their hands, and a few would loudly complain, but it certainly doesn’t seem like they’d actually break ranks and impeach him. The Democrats have no power to hold Trump accountable, so what would he lose? The respect of moderates? Does that seem likely to stop Trump?

His diehard supporters would back him, using endless “what about” logic : “what about Hillary’s emails/uranium sales/pizza connections?”, “what about Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood ties?”, “what about the FBI’s well known pro-Democratic biases?” “Why should Trump be held accountable for crimes when Democrats always get let off?”

Then Republicans will circle the wagons, loudly saying that the FBI is a puppet of the Russophobic liberal Deep State and that there’s no reason to trust the FBI over Trump. Someone, somewhere will find something Mueller or an individual on his team said about Trump, or some dust mote sized speck of dirt, and that will be endlessly feted as “proof” that the Bureau is hopelessly corrupt.

It would look bad if Trump fires Mueller, and he’ll surely take criticism for it, but it also looks bad if there’s a stream of indictments and guilty pleas affecting his inner circle for the next year or three.
From a cold practical perspective, Trump may as well take the heat in one fell swoop.

and lead to him being put on trial for obstruction of justice. I wouldn't try to predict anything Trump would do, but as long as he is in office there is a question as to whether a sitting president can be indicted. Firing Mueller would put great pressure on congress to impeach him.

We will never be a United country with such a huge segment of cult-worshipping morons and Republican criminals. I support a division of the US with Blue states either forming a new union, or joining Canada.

We're a blue urban/red rural (and purple suburban) country.

There's cities in Texas that are as liberal as any on the West Coast and rural parts of California that are crimson red and hostile to anything Democrat.

This makes secession a little complicated.

Alabama may have some liberal Democrats in it, but the State will likely never be a cultured, progressive State. Guess people would have to decide if they want to stay in their largely Red dominated states, or move to the northern states.

The people most outraged by this have already sent Democrats to DC. You think anyone who voted for Trump will give a shit if Mueller is fired?

Trump's lousy "tax cuts for everyone" plan is what will cost the Republicans Congress. But even our best case scenario, there won't be the votes in the Senate to ratify impeachment.

After all the screaming and noise dies, the only practical bad side to Trump firing Mueller would be that some centrists and moderates might come aroubd to really disliking him.

Anyone seriously think that Trump cares about that?

I think he is aware of that. He is obsessed with his image. He knows that firing Comey didn't make the investigation go away. He knows that Mueller will most likely hurt his image as more and more comes out. He is doing a tightrope walk. I suspect his anger at Mueller will eventually make him lose his cool and he will fire Mueller. I don't think the R's would impeach. He will opt for the short term solution and suffer in the long term. If he takes this action it will hurt the Repubs in the midterms. The longer he waits, the less time they will have to spin it before the midterms.

What I am trying to say, is that there is not much of a short term risk to him as compared to a long term risk. He does seem to be very short sighted.

One can only guess at what a dotard will do.

People will take to the streets in multiple cities in massive protests that won't be one-day events.

The deplorables will all also and there will most likely be violence between right wingers v antifa, and regular people outraged that trump would make an attempt to stop his crimes from being exposed.

National Guard will be called up, the country's future will teeter on the brink.

Who knows if it will survive such a blatant attempt to subvert justice?

There would be a reaction, and it might hurt him in ‘18 and ‘20.

But Trump seems to thrive on chaos. I’d guess he picks chaos and an uncertain future over an investigation that will definitely keep causing him stress and headaches.
