Pete Dominici tried to get mental health care parity in insurance and if only we could convince tptb that the whole body needs care, eyes, teeth, brain as well as the other vital organs.

Most private health insurance is sorely lacking in mental health coverage.

I'm not sure how much of a 'sell' this will provide, as President Obama's base probably recognizes the benefits, and many others will ignore, deny, or not care. Unfortunately.

Some 45.9 million, or around 1 in 5 American adults (age 18 and over) experienced a mental illness in the past year, according to the US government's latest National Survey on Drug Use and Health, released this month.

Mental illness in this country is an epidemic that nobody talks about. Not only would adequately funding mental health care likely stop most of the senseless killings in this country, but it would also put a serious dent in things like homelessness. The effects would be far-reaching. It would almost assuredly improve the ECONOMY as well.

And just think what this country might become if all people had access to affordable health care of every kind.

Thanks to ACA, I am on my father's insurance for 2 more years and will only have to pay about $35.
