Tariq Ramadan, noted Islamic scholar at Oxford, accused of 2 violent rapes, some underage relationsh

Reported in Bruce Gerencser's blog in his series Black Collar Crimes. Gerencser was an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist minister for yrs, but he left Christianity some yrs ago.

His series on sexual predator ministers is depressing.

Per Gerencser, the charges are major news in Oxford and Europe. Ramadan's grandfather was the/a founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The women say they were encouraged by women going public about their attacks.

1. How the Tariq Ramadan Scandal Derailed the #Balancetonporc Movement in France

Soon after the #MeToo movement formed in the United States, in response to the Harvey Weinstein scandal, #balancetonporc (“expose your pig”) erupted in France. The effect has been an unprecedented blow to what Sabrina Kassa has described, in Mediapart, as the “patriarchal belly” of a country where harassment and other sexual crimes have often been concealed, or explained away, by a Gallic rhetoric of flirtation and libertinism. In 2008, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who was the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, was subjected to an internal I.M.F. inquiry over allegedly coercing a subordinate to have sex with him. Although he apologized for his “error of judgment,” he was celebrated in the French press as “the Great Seducer.” Had he not been arrested in New York, in 2011, on charges (which were eventually dropped) of assaulting Nafissatou Diallo, a maid, in the presidential suite of the Sofitel Hotel, Strauss-Kahn, a powerful figure in the Socialist Party, might have been elected President of France in 2012.

I found the link a bit hard to follow because the info is so new to me. Will read again. Right now I feel like I've come into a movie 3/4 of the way through.

Again, thank you for the link and info.

As a note: The info about Tariq's and his brother's opinion regarding the necessity of stoning 'bad' women is appalling.

Also, the info about who supports Tariq at Oxford is info Gerencser's note didn't have. G's purpose in his series is to try to make those still in religion see their revered leaders' clay of feet. His near daily additions trace a wall of shame.
