Took him out for a minor offense.
Even though he apologized and requested an ethics investigation.

(3,011 posts)It's been less than a week. What is our time frame for speaking up for ourselves? Did we miss a rule for how many days we're allowed to be unhappy about this betrayal?
I, for one, think we should continue to speak up for Franken until the day he actually leaves the Senate. Until then, there is a chance, however small, that they will do the right thing.
After that, I'll probably let it go.

(94,588 posts)Saying them over and over won't change Franken's mind, won't change the Senate women's mind and won't change the outcome.

(3,011 posts)I believe I am adding my opinion to the many comments here and some other threads.
Also, I've said several times, that this was wrong! It is undemocratic to push an elected official out of office without due process.
And, I think it will do nothing except weaken our side. I am truly tired of democrats thinking if we disarm, they will.
Do you remember Gianforte? Republicans waited and no one talks about him anymore. Hummmmmm.
Short memories, much?

(884 posts)in the fact that you seem to be taking issue with someone using their small voice against a democrat, specifically for that democrat using their much larger voice against a democrat.

(246 posts)Many people, myself included, have been hit really hard with feelings of disempowerment, deflation and discouragement over this. We want to process it emotionally, make sense of where things stand politically and strategize and share thoughts for going forward. I think this is more than OK and encourage you to be tolerant even if you do not agree.
Regarding the political aspect, it sets a far-reaching precedent in terms of losing one of our best, the Democrats acting without due process, a potential right-wing hot job, and a host of other concerns.
There are also some of us, me included, who still hope the Dems might walk this back or Franken might not really resign when the time comes. I get that others think this may be beating a dead a horse and it is time to move on. I don't and I am not just commenting on DU and wasting airtime. I am calling and emailing senators on a daily basis. Why not be tolerant of those of us who believe with this is a BIG DEAL with BIG RAMIFICATIONS? Come on, we're on the same side.

(6,092 posts)party and country, so that the path could be cleared to go hard after Roy and Trump. And they responded probable and that time will tell. The Media needs to be able to in-depth talk about differences between photo shoots with too tight touching and sexual predication and abuse. Then Al would not have been asked to fall for the so called "good."
I still will not forget and I'm hoping that proof emerges that Leanne made false claims and I hope it make big news and then the rest fall like flies.

(25,183 posts)is that in 2018, the male-female voter gap between the Democratic Party and the GOP will be even more magnified. It won't necessarily be because men vote for the Republicons, but more will stay home, or at least not encourage their fellow men to vote for a party that they might view as emasculating them.

(10,023 posts)Enough independents fell for it last time and now we have Trump, and Gorsuch, and a tax bill that will hurt affordable health care and the middle class, and the real possibility of drastic cuts to Medicare/ Medicaid/social security, the giving away of our natural resources to for profits, the degradation on public and higher education, the chipping by away of reproductive rights, etc.
