Here is what we know:
The Russians offered help.
The Campaign accepted help.
The Russians gave help.
The President made full use of that help.
That's pretty damning.

Filthy lucre wins over ethics. As many empires have learned over many centuries - It's fun for awhile and then the pied piper (death) comes to get its due.

(16,254 posts)I doubt that he has any sexual harassment history, seems honest, isn't hot-headed and knows how to watch his words. He seems sensible with common sense, is the right age and would not embarrass the U.S. and its citizens. Good role model for the young, sensitive to the old and progressive for the middle class.
Compared to the Idiot in Chief's Clothing, I'd say he was darned close to perfect...but then, the bar is set pretty low right now.
Only problem I can see is that his last name would give ammunition for the RW deplorables to come up with all kinds of nicknames.

(9,670 posts)If Congress knows it, Mueller knows it times a thousand.
We are not waiting for a political solution. Impeachment is a political solution. Impeachment won't happen with a Republican gauntlet that is likely complicit in the crime and the cover-up.
We are waiting for a legal solution. The one that a special counsel brings to the table. The one that progresses at a snail's pace, but one in which results have already been publicized. The one that busts the Trump cabal for crimes before, during and after his candidacy. The one that nails the GOP for RICO violations and obstruction of justice.
That will be worth the wait...if...we survive the immediate effects of fascism as applied to our democracy.

(32,641 posts)What did Trump and his campaign staff promise and deliver to Putin for his help?
Is there anything more that's been promised but not yet delivered?
Answer these questions and no judge or jury would let him off. He's toast.
Whether the House and Senate want to follow through on impeachment, well that's another story. (Schiff is pretty smart about this stuff.) Even if the impeachment never happens, Mueller has enough to convict the Trump family on RICO and tax evasion, money laundering, and a bunch of other charges related to handling of finances. This was true before the election and even more true now.

(3,515 posts)East using Russian equipment to some extent. -- Loans of money. (Trump wanted to prohibit Mueller from investigating Trump's business dealings prior to the presidency if I remember correctly, and that suggests that there is probably something embarrassing for Trump in facts related to those dealings -- just a guess, but could be).
There are lots of possibilities.

(3,515 posts)campaign, members of Trump's cabinet and Russians is shocking, overwhelming in fact.
Numbers like that don't lie.
How many Russian government or business representatives have you or members of your family or even your member of Congress met lately?
How much money, how many awards have your friends and family received from the Russian government or Russian companies in the past couple of years?
How many times have you been to Russia in the past couple of years?
Compare that with your contacts with people from the Chinese upper crust.
Compare that with your contacts with people from Canada or even Mexico. Now I have lots of contact with ordinary people from Mexico. It's our close neighbor here in Southern California. And I know immigrants from Russia. But people with contacts in the Russian government or with wealthy Russian members of the Russian oligarchy? Pretty rare.
And yet the Trump team was full of such people.
What pushed me into the "Trump" has some mysterious relationship with Russia group is the way he tried to insult and push our allies in NATO around. Having lived in Europe for years, I believe that is the result of a typically Russian attitude toward Western Europe which they would like to dominate. I see it as an attempt to usurp and disturb the very natural link and relationship of trust between the US and Europe. After all, many of our ancestors were from Western Europe, from Scandinavia to the Tip of Greece to Spain and up to Iceland. That's where the majority of American immigrants came from in the first centuries of our existence as a country.
And Russia does not like, maybe does not understand, our relationship with Western Europe. But that is where many, probably most, of our ancestors came from. That is where much of our culture comes from, including out law (mostly from Britain), our religion, our language, etc.

His team knows the facts. We don't know all of them. The important facts are details, and whether laws were broken will depend on how the facts fit together.

There must come a reckoning. It must be coming soon or we will lose all those things. Someone maybe many will come out to turn this Republican rampage around.

(1,333 posts)"help" in what way exactly? But lets assume the worst definition of the word that doesn't include election hacking, how exactly is strategising with a foreign country in an election a crime? what law exactly did it violate and if you replaced the word Russians with Israelis, Germany, France or Britian is it still a crime?
That is if you believe any of that. My guess is that this would end up just like the Martha Steward case where they will get convictions in everything but collusion with the Russians. Btw, a good portion of people voted for Trump solely because he promised to make peace with Russia and push us away from a potential WWIII. Which unfortunately was another campaign lie.
