WASHINGTON – Alabama Republican Sen. Richard Shelby said Sunday he didn't vote for fellow Republican Roy Moore because "the state of Alabama deserves better."

Shelby said he already cast his vote in the high-stakes special Senate election and wrote-in another unidentified Republican, rather than choose his party's nominee, who is accused of groping teenage girls.

"I'd rather see the Republican win, but I'd rather see a Republican write-in. I couldn't vote for Roy Moore. I didn't vote for Roy Moore,” Shelby told .. "State of the Union" ...

Moore is ahead at this point and will probably win. That means both writing in and not voting are effectively supports for him.

There is only one way to keep that scumbag out of congress and that's to vote for an opponent who is as worthy as Moore is contemptible.

... Republicans are at the moment lining up behind or at least making their peace with Roy Moore, the disgraced and disgraceful Alabama jurist who takes his dates the way he takes his Scotch: 14 years old and on the rocks. (Picking up underage girls is one thing, but at a custody hearing? That’s some next-level degeneracy.) ... Cruz found a way to get some of that stink on himself, comically trying to explain why he believed that Al Franken should be driven from the Senate while the question of Roy Moore should be the exclusive province of the people of Alabama. The ensuing ridicule was not entirely undeserved ...
