The Dolphins recently completed an effort they started this summer to get every player on the team registered to vote.
Team owner Stephen Ross's RISE initiative and the Drum Major Insititue led the voting drive, and Martin Luther King III (who is a member of the Drum Major Initiative) said on a conference call earlier this week that every player had been registered.
Bill Wachtel, who is also a member of the Drum Major Initiative, said the idea was borne out of player interest.
It was a matter of one at a practice session, Wachtel told the Miami Herald. Every single player was intrigued by the opportunity and felt gratified they were participating in this registration effort. It was very easy.
King III is now focusing his efforts on getting every Rams player registered, the Herald reports.

On the politics seeping into sports: Its a polarizing time right now. Its a disheartening time. I commend the Golden State Warriors for the decision they made. I commend the NFL players and organizations for taking a stand right now for equality for inclusion; for taking a stand against racism, bigotry, prejudice.
So it is disheartening to see right now the divisiveness. He added that the team will meet during training camp to decide how they will move forward with this issue. Last season, the Heat linked arms during the National Anthem for the entire season.

I'm a Dolphins fan. This topic comes up once in a while on Dolphins message boards. Apparently the players have frequent political arguments in the locker room, according to beat writers. Supposedly the loudmouth ignorant right winger among all of them is center Mike Pouncey. I'm not surprised because Pouncey is a moron overall. He stood up for Aaron Hernandez throughout, including wearing hats to support him even after it was obvious Hernandez was a murderer.

Good to know about Pouncey. He always annoyed me for some reason. Probably the gator thing since I am a hurricane alum
Year after year we put high draft picks into the line and ignore positions like linebacker. I would say it is ok if we had a good line but it seems like we always suck there

(14,565 posts)I'll never forgive Stephen Ross for Gator Day several years ago. That's when you know the top of the organization has completely lost its collective mind. I'm a Canes season ticket holder. Many of my fellow Canes fans who sit nearby swear they'll never attend another Dolphins game as long as Ross owns the team, based on that decision.
Somehow outsiders continue to believe that Florida State is the hated Canes rival. Not close. I haven't respected anything about the University of Florida since age 2. My parents were both Canes alums who taught me well.
I always thought the Florida rivalry was nastier than FSU.
However, I have a daughter approaching college age and UF is looking more appealing when I start checking college costs. Sheesh. I might knuckle under for that kind of difference in cost.
