The answer is: nobody.
Everybody here has decided that he's guilty of the accusations against him, even though he's denied all of them. You've decided this based on the caliber of the accusers and the reporting by the news media (which brought forth the attempted hoax by PROJECT VERITAS).
So understand why, in the case of Al Franken, members of the Senate and some people here have made a similar determination, without the benefit of a formal ethics hearing. If you want to insist that Democrats are being too puritanical, or shouldn't give up a seat if the Republicans won't, fine. But don't try for a holier than thou analysis of those who see things differently.

(36,926 posts)but, as far as I know, Dem and Repub Senators are asking for an ETHICS COMMITTEE investigation, should he win the election. Interesting that Dems are ready to give this probable pedophile due process, but not one of the most beloved Senators in Congress, with much sketchier evidence.

(65,064 posts)See, the track record also includes getting kicked of the state Supreme Court TWICE! It includes wasting tax payer dollars on a crusade to put religious monuments in a publicly owned building. It includes preposterous statements about the Constitution, about race, about religion and his conspiracy theory du jour.
The allegations are a compounding factor of an already slimy character.
Apples and oranges.
But you knew that.

(68,586 posts)different than Franken. There is more evidence...and clearly there will never be justice for those women...to many years have passed...in this case the voters will decide.

(4,387 posts)The Roy Moore accusations have way more credibility to them than the Franken stuff. Multiple (double digit) corroborations, contemporaneous yearbook signings, accounts from police, mall bannings, community member statements. These are the things that matter when considering a personal judgement call on matters like this.
Find me similarly vetted Franken situations and we can talk. Until then, Franken was run out of office on the thinnest garbage, some of it requiring human anatomy on the Gumby scale to pull off, I've ever seen. Maybe you can have one of those dinners you're so fond of flaunting with the party big wigs and come up with something.

(32,707 posts)things Franken has been accused of, even if true from the accuser's perspective, rise to the level of requiring resignation. The public photograph "incidents" can be explained by height differences or genuine mistakes, IMO.

(52,162 posts)All of Moore's accusers have gone public. Both the 14 year old and the 16 year old he attempted to rape have coobrative evidence. In the 14 year old's case we have the fact they both were at the court house, the fact she knew where he lived, the fact her mother back up the fact he was asked to watch her. In the 16 year old's case we have the year book. He also has told numerous lies in his denials. He lied about a county being dry, he lied about a restraunt not existing, he first said he did know, then said he didn't know any of the accusers.
In comparison, Franken's accusers have been anonymous or at least unvetted. His first accuser used her own website to publicize the claim, turns out she was manhandling people herself, and we still don't know when the photo was taken. The second accuser was a GOP person, provided no photo to prove what he had done though she did have a Facebook post. Then we had two anonymous accusers who were vetted by the Huffington post but we don't know just how much of the story they checked out, nor was any supporting evidence mentioned. Franken hasn't been caught in any lies. His last named accuser was apparently to fragile to leave her house since her problem was that he touched her waist.

(9,291 posts)the part about Roger Stone saying tomorrow is Roy Moore's turn in the barrel? Did the teenagers have twitter contact with Don jr?
No, then sorry, my critical political thinking remains.

(4,238 posts)Is just like sexually molesting teen girls The accusations against Franken were flimsy, at best, to outright unbelievable (its my right as an entertainer? Oh, please.) Definitely not in the same category as Moores accusers, and this false equivalency is making a mockery out of the #MeToo movement.
