Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWould you vote for Kristen Gillibrand if she ran for the Democratic presidential nomination?
(note...this is solely about your vote in the primaries-I'm working on the assumption that we'd all vote for whoever was nominated in the fall).

(7,820 posts)Cause lots of variables... but she would probably not be my first choice.

(841 posts)I think Kristen Gillibrand would be a weak candidate against Trump or any Republican in the general election.

(50,254 posts)And, while I can understand your choice as a fellow Washington state resident, the Constitution penalizes a party from putting two people from the same state on its presidential ticket...if any party does that, it forfeits that state's electoral votes.

(43,049 posts)for years, she hasn't done anything like this before.
She has been far too smart and cunning so far to do anything so destructive, so one wonders what's really up.

(13,496 posts)bc I don't know who she would be running against. There are better candidates. There are worse candidates. I certainly would vote for her in the General Election if she won the primary. Probably wouldn't vote for her in the primaries, though that would depend on a whole list of variables. (So I didn't vote in this poll.)

(4,452 posts)Whoever we put up as a presidential candidate means nothing in the grand scheme of things. If the Democratic party truly wants to be a force for good, it needs to start rebuilding from the ground up. I grew up in solidly blue Democrat territory. After 16 years away I was shocked at the right wing swing of those I had grown up with. After almost another 16 years, I'm befuddled that the Democratic party still hasn't a clue that they are eroding and ignoring their base.
I'm encouraged that DSA candidates have been beating established Democrats on the local level. Mabey that will be the wakeup call.

(16,245 posts)I hope she doesn't run and, if she does, isn't the nominee.
Apart from the Franken thing, I don't think she has what it takes to beat Trump, assuming he runs again.
