People close to the probe say the former campaign and White House strategist will be a key witness for prosecutors and Hill investigators.

As special Russia counsel Robert Mueller wraps up interviews with senior current and former White House staff, one name has been conspicuously absent from public chatter surrounding the probe: Steve Bannon.
President Donald Trumps former White House chief strategist and campaign chief executive played critical roles in episodes that have become central to Muellers probe as well as to multiple Hill investigations.
Bannon was a key bystander when Trump decided to fire national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to lying to federal investigators about his contacts with foreign officials. He was among those Trump consulted before firing FBI Director James Comey, whose dismissal prompted Muellers appointment a decision Bannon subsequently described to "60 Minutes" as the biggest mistake in modern political history.
And during the campaign, Bannon was the one who offered the introduction to data-mining firm Cambridge Analytica, whose CEO has since acknowledged trying to coordinate with WikiLeaks on the release of emails from Hillary Clintons time as secretary of state.
Yet Bannon hasnt faced anywhere near the degree of public scrutiny in connection to the probe as others in Trumps inner circle, including son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner who was recently interviewed by Muellers team or Donald Trump Jr., who was interviewed on Capitol Hill last week about his own Russian connections.

(1,702 posts)Bannon's connection to Data An and the Mercer's is without doubt on Mueller's radar. I believe Mueller will backdoor Bannon and get him not directly but via info from the likes of Flynn, Kushner etc. All happy to give him up. Remember there was no love lost in the early days of the rats fighting to be closest to the F'n MORON.

(5,210 posts)This is a real interesting article (and video) otherwise, too:
GOP megadonor requested Trump's data firm organize hacked Clinton emails
Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, who is closely affiliated with the Mercers, served as Cambridge Analytica's vice president and sat on its board, according to The New York Times. A Bannon spokesman told the Times he stepped down from the post before joining the Trump campaign.

(25,253 posts)Mentioned in relation to Mueller's investigation two or three times here on DU in the last month. Many of the responses I got didn't seem overly concerned about Bannon. I'm glad that finally there seems to be a coming around that Bannon is most probably knee deep involved with the Trump/Russian collusion.
