Current Republicans only care about party and serving their masters (donors and the 1%ers). They are not fit the serve the offices to which there are elected.

without any clear guidance from the Constition. The issue will likely be litigated while Congress is pressured to do something. The outcome will result in either an expansion of Presidential power (i e, he can do what he wants, even stop an investigation into himself), or a reduction of power (he can't fire a subordinate).

of terror with massive consequences at the ballot box. It would be tantamount to an admission of guilt to the eyes of most voters. The don't think the Fox bullshit machine could spew it fast enough to cover this one up.

In 2016, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said: "One of my proudest moments was when I told Obama, 'You will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy.'

That was the first step in the killing of democracy and the rule of law in America and...

We did NOTHING and empowered Trump, Putin, Fox news, hate radio, the GOP to take the next step which is coming soon.

I say "might" because I have no inside information, but here's an educated guess: Mueller spread out his investigative work in progress to various Federal prosecutors, states' Attorneys General, foreign governments, and document repositories outside of the reach of U.S. authorities. The plan is to make Trump et al. aware of the "Doomsday option": if Trump fires Mueller, a large number of his associates will be prosecuted by federal, state, and foreign prosecutors and likely convicted in absentia. State convictions can't be removed by presidential pardon. Those states will invoke their various fraud and racketeering statutes to levy fines against Trump and his people, declare them as fugitives, put out warrants for their arrest, and confiscate their properties.

Foreign governments can do the same thing, but also with the extensive release of documents showing beyond a reasonable doubt that the Trump presidency is dominated by Russia, will feel also free to abrogate treaties and trade agreements and to impose new heavy-handed restrictions on trade and travel.

We Cold War babies haven't forgotten about Mutually Assured Destruction.

A lot more would have leaked, and it would in fact.be grounds for dismissal. I beleive that if he is fir3d, he plans to sue to get his job back because he can only be fired for "good cause," which is a term in employment law that means you really have to do something wrong to be fired. Wrongful firing lawsuits happen all the time and there is a well built body of law about what constitutes wrongful firing.

You can bet the Germans are keeping a close eye on matters Trump after the Deutsche Bank subpeona. And, in the age of encryption, it's a piece of cake to store copies of documents far away without disclosing their contents until you want to.

I'm sure Mueller really, really wants to resolve all this within a constitutional framework, but I hope he's not putting all his eggs in that one basket.

I think whatever plans he has for protecting himself are totally legal and politically transparent. Id he does anything, it will likely be foind, and he will lose any support he has in the courts, Congress and the general public.
