Moore also faced criticism for comments he made in September at a campaign rally. According to the Los Angeles Times, when asked by a black member of the audience when he thought the last time America was great, Moore answered, "I think it was great at the time when families were united even though we had slavery they cared for one another. Our families were strong, our country had a direction."

(22,976 posts)And sarcastically dismissive of Moore, since the candidate is nostalgic for the moonlight and magnolia days of old, when slavery was deemed a good thing in Dixie.

(6,930 posts)Not find it to be appropriate. You certainly can disagree.

(22,976 posts)Here we are, you and I, on the same team, both hoping to rid the country of its genuinely fascist behavior under #45, and instead, working to attain a common-sense, compassionate, healthy progressive government that is inclusive of all citizens.
And yet, instead of metaphorically driving a stake through Roy Moores foul heart, were off thrashing through the weeds about his African American (likely) security person being satirically guessed to be his body servant or butler. If anyones alerted on it yet, its been deemed to meet DUs standards.
Were teammates. We may disagree on this one PC issue, but were working toward the same goal. Peace

(6,930 posts)A post has to be really awful for me to alert. I cannot remember the last time I alerted. But yes, I hear you on the teammate thing. For some reason that post just hit me wrong. Gosh I just keep hoping against hope that the pervert loses, though I know that it is extremely unlikely. I guess I will just cross my fingers and trust that there are people who will do the right thing in that state.

(22,976 posts)If Moore is elected, any future Republican claim to some moral, godly high ground is absolutely null and void. (Youd think that electing #45 would have cost them that already, but not quite.)
Consider the usual GOP cards that theyve recently forfeited: never add to the deficit; always give pseudo-tax-cuts to the middle (and low-middle) class; be the party of the God-fearing; pretend that African Americans and Hispanics actually share in the American Dream; pretend that women are equal in every regard; healthcareplans to replace the ACA with something better; anything to do with education; anything to do with infrastructure; and so on.
Its a pretty nihilistic menu. Republicans are now unable to functionally govern with a fair hand. Which is why they need to be shown the door. ASAP.
Go safely, Tipperary.
