Most know that Trump is a clear and present danger to America. The polls now reflect that. Fighting his policies both locally and domestically are existential. With that comes ensuring Trump is unable to get his posse into office that will, in fact, complete his fascist dictate. In that light, it is way overdue for President Obama to engage. Well, he has a second time in as many weeks.
Obama entered the Alabama Senatorial Special Election by lending his voice to encourage Alabamians to voter for Doug Jones.

(115,734 posts)and avoid criticising their successors. Obama was following that tradition, as have the presidents who preceded him. W took up oil painting and didn't utter a single negative word about Obama; Carter didn't bust on Reagan although he had good grounds to do so; Bush Sr. didn't dump on Bill Clinton. Mostly it just isn't done. I think Obama was holding back until it became incontrovertibly obvious that Trump was never going to improve and was actually getting worse by the day. But I'm glad to see him speaking out.

Obama and Holter have said they regret for not doing more for Voting Rights and Gerrymandering. They tried to work within the System, but the system chose not to be worked with .

(82,849 posts)I think if Obama had gotten involved earlier, it would have caused even more backlash. By holding back until the weekend before, I think Obama's appearance on the scene will be more energizing for Jones supporters and leave less time for Moore to react.
