Ethical consistency may be difficult, but it's imperative. Neither Trump nor Moore (if he wins) should be forced to resign without a proper hearing. And their accusers, obviously, have a significantly important right to be heard. We cannot hold people accountable, nor can they be exonerated without due process under some form of jurisprudence. Likewise, the claims of victims can only result in redress within the same framework.
Without an impartial hearing with the potential for consequential punishment, the value of accusations is neutered. That cannot be the outcome of this paradigm shift. It must be that victims are empowered. And it should never be used as a cudgel. Otherwise, what the hell is the point?
