I thought that we needed a young leader with new ideas and fresh perspective on the world and our government, but I have changed my mind.
Here's why:
This administration has begun the dismantling of our government. They are hollowing out the infrastructure of the State Department and probably every other department as well. I have come to think that we will need someone in the White house who knows about all of the ins and outs of the institution and the workings of the governmental departments that have been weakened. We will need someone who can rebuild...someone with experience.
I think Uncle Joe would be perfect. Perhaps he states that he will only serve one term.

Some of the folks leaving State have conjectured that it might take a generation to undo the damege caused by this administration.

What is the specific age cut-off you want to see, and on what objective measure is that taken from?

Or is this simply another sentiment discriminating against a particular demographic, and lacking any evidence to support it (there's a couple of words for that...)?

That should not be the criteria. If a candidate demonstrates their qualifications then it is up to the voters.

There are lots of fully qualified people. Joe makes too many gaffes, and has already made some big errors in judgement such as the financial decisions concerning the big banks in his state which didn't help consumers as opposed to big banks one bit.

It's not age so much, as I'd like to see new blood without a lot of baggage and are forward looking.

Still, I think Kamala Harris and Adam Schiff are both super smart policy wonks and I like that. I don't want baggage and I don't want a populist. IMO, Our country needs a steady hand and a very intelligent policy wonk.

but just to have a new face. We can't keep recycling the same people for different positions. And I say this as someone who LOVES Joe Biden tremendously. I think he's fine where he's at right now -- as an elder statesman for our party. But in terms of the next election, I'd love to see a woman; trump losing to a woman would be truly poetic.

why the 70-year-old woman who got 3 million more votes than her opponent in the general election is supposed to be quiet and go away because we need fresh new leadership but the 75-year old man who lost three primaries is supposedly our great hope for the future.

She has always come up roses in the investigations, but many people only know the smears and never looked at the outcomes. She just has too much baggage.
If she ran again and won, she would be under investigations from day 1 and threats of impeachment would fill the news from day 2.

She is fully capable of handling the job, but the republicans will never let her alone. We need to hit refresh and look at new faces without the drawbacks. I think a younger, new person would be much better to stop the republicans from the constant smears.

They are already trying to taint Gillibrand.

And I don't think he can come close to taking the beating that Hillary has taken over the years.

I have no problem with arguing that we need younger, newer leadership. My problem comes with people who argue we need younger, newer leadership and then lead the cheers for Biden to be our standard bearer.
