Washington Post columnist George Will said in a new op-ed that President Trump is now the nation's worst president.
Will, a conservative pundit who is often critical of Trump, ripped the president for supporting GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore in Alabama, who faced sexual misconduct allegations. Will said Moore's actions as a public official "by themselves sufficed to disqualify him from any pubic office."
"He is an anti-constitutional recidivist, twice removed from Alabamas highest court for his theocratic insistence that his religious convictions take precedence over U.S. Supreme Court decisions, so he could not have sincerely sworn to 'support and defend the Constitution' and to 'bear true faith and allegiance to the same,'" he wrote.
Will wrote that when Democrat Doug Jones defeated Moore in the Alabama Senate race on Tuesday, a "gross national embarrassment" was narrowly avoided.

(65,069 posts)...as a sanctimonious, not as smart as he thinks is, two dimensional thinker, who merely studied a thesaurus, i'm going to disagree with you on this one Bear.
Will is closing in on retirement. He's never going to be worried about money, and he will still be able to write books about baseball until he dies.
I don't think he's trying to salvage anything here, other than the REASONED (but still wrong) conservative movement. I think he actually is appalled by the nationalistic, fear and hate mongering populism of this crowd.
If it were under any other circumstances, you and i would agree totally about him, though.

(129,087 posts)in terms of supporting any sanity and viability of their party... But yes, he, Krauthammer, Kristol, Safire and many others refused to call out the crazies and continued to spew the usual Nixon/Raygun anti-everything but enriching themselves bullshit.

(37,428 posts)Will is mighty slow on the uptake. Nothing in Trump's past suggests any talent for administration or leadership, and Will may be mistaking Trump's ignorance and laziness for "anti-constitutional recidivism." Trump isn't bad because of a particular governing philosophy. He's bad because he's a terrible, vindictive and petty person with no interest in governing.
