Let's imagine everything stayed the same, and the Lewinsky affair came to light... what would he have done in the current climate?
I'm guessing he would be doing what the angry orange man is doing.
What do you think?
This is not a slam, or trolling, I have never voted for a Republican in my life, voted for BOTH Clintons!

(6,709 posts)is not "would" he but "should" he.
For me, the correct answer is "yes."

(31,261 posts)Despite his issues with women other than his wife, Bill Clinton has empathy and a soul. Trump has neither. My guess? Bill would likely have stepped aside if the number of claims that Trump has against him surfaced.

(13,190 posts)I think Clinton would totally act just like Trump - AMIRITE.
But I voted for him, like fer sure.
GTFO of here with this

(3,483 posts)I guess it popped into my mind because it happened in the White House, while in office, so did that make it any worse than the accusations against Trump from before he was elected??
Like i said, I voted for BOTH Clintons, this is just a question that popped into my mind.

(10,185 posts)Monica in her 2014 Vanity Fair story made it clear it was sex between 2 consenting adults.
Trump's victims made it clear it was NOT consenting.
BamaRefugee
(3,483 posts)there would have been demands for him to step down? Trump is not even a factor here.
Farmer-Rick
(10,185 posts)You ask if Clinton would act the same way Trump is. Of course Not because the basis for Trumps behavior is assault and harassment which is illegal while Clinton's was merely hiding an affair between consenting adults which is Not illegal...anymore.

Different times...Shouldn't we be looking into Clarence Thomas too? He is still serving and ruining the court.

(3,483 posts)But I'll bet someone will soon go down for a consenting affair outside their marriage.
And I'm all for getting rid of Clarence Thomas!

Had she been his staffer, or an intern, there might be other questions. But otherwise... pure revenge porn, and no amount of eyebleach will even remove the censored still from my brain.
I had to look at lolcats before I could eat again as it was.

Prior to his election he was a known "womanizer." That would automatically be considered sexual harrasment today, which would have disqualified him in the eyes of many democrats. Yes, we have higher standards than they do.

(12,344 posts)He might have to go. On the other hand, there is no way to make him go, so he might just stick it out, like Trump.

(37,648 posts)He had an affair w/an intern. And he had a long term affair with a woman before he was Prez. Beyond that, he denied what he was accused of and was never found to be guilty of anything, despite hundreds of Republicans going after him persistently, spending millions of taxpayer dollars.

(3,483 posts)It says "if he WAS IN office today", just like with Trump, it didn't come until he was in.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)because he's so rich and powerful...and if 10 women had come forward with consistent, credible stories about his assaulting them, when they were known to him or even complete strangers?
That's unimaginable. That is uniquely a Trump thing. There would be no reason for Clinton to resign, like there is for Trump.

The answer is...not only WOULD they, they DID.

(3,483 posts)Hillary Clinton was MORE THAN QUALIFIED ALL BY HERSELF to become POTUS.
Hillary Clinton DID NOT NEED any kind of "Buy One Get One Free" offer to become an outstanding President. In fact, I don't think swing voters were even remotely interested in the possibility.
Bill Clinton was DEFINITELY still around.
But that's not the point of my post, it was a simple question whether BC would have fought to stay or not.

(2,600 posts)Clinton had consensual sex with Lewinsky whereas these men today sexually harassed or groped women without their consent. That's a very big difference. You really can't draw a parallel here.
