Rep. Speier: 'Rumor on the Hill' is Trump to Fire Mueller Before Christmas

Rep. Speier: ‘Rumor on the Hill’ is Trump to Fire Mueller Before Christmas
By KQED News Staff DECEMBER 15, 2017

Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Mateo) told KQED Newsroom on Friday that she believes Republicans are trying to shut down the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

Speier also said, “The rumor on the Hill when I left yesterday was that the president was going to make a significant speech at the end of next week. And on Dec. 22nd, when we are out of D.C., he was going to fire Robert Mueller.”

If this were to happen, Speier said, it would cause a constitutional crisis. “That is Saturday massacre 2.0,” she said. “Without a doubt there would be an impeachment effort.”

NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW—MUELLER FIRING RAPID RESPONSE

Donald Trump is publicly considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, the person leading the Department of Justice investigation of possible illegal actions by Donald Trump and members of his presidential campaign, and the efforts to conceal those activities.

This would be a constitutional crisis for our country. It would demand an immediate and unequivocal response to show that we will not tolerate abuse of power from Donald Trump.

Our response in the minutes and hours following a power grab will dictate what happens next, and whether Congress—the only body with the constitutional power and obligation to rein Trump in from his rampage—will do anything to stand up to him.

That's why we're preparing to hold emergency "Nobody is Above the Law" rallies around the country in the event they are needed.

Given the order, Roesthstein either pulls the trigger or resigns.

45 puts in someone who will do the deed if he resigns.

Yup.

Trump will have no trouble finding another republican traitor to American democracy and the rule of law.

That is the basis of GOP thought and philosophy now in 2017.

He would clean house, under the pretense that he is cleaning up the FBI and the Justice Department of the bad apples...

He would fire Jeff Sessions, Rod Rosenstein, Andrew McCabe, and perhaps a couple of others, would be my guess.

The GOP controls both houses of Congress, not the Democrats.

(As soon as the Senate passes the Trump Tax Bill, those GOP assholes are leaving town, and there's not thing one the Dems can do about it)

Call it the ultimate Friday night news dump, except now there is no typical Friday night. Now all news is 24/7 and politics dominates our news. Trying to dump Mueller under cover of Christmas will just magnify the crisis Trump would plunge this nation into, it is so unbelievably blatant a way to try to cover the stain with Christmas trimmings. The media will be treated to the sight of a nation in open revolt during the holiday season - which will be absolutely transfixing.

Washington crossed the Delaware the night of December 25–26, 1776, to launch a successful surprise attack on the British. If Trump thinks he can pull off firing Mueller and then just turn off the office lights until after the new year, he will be as surprised and unprepared as the British were by the fury that will overcome him.

Jackie Speier is a good Congresswoman, but she won't be able to do much about Trump, even if he does fire Mueller, because the Repukes "hold all the cards" - (all 3 branches of our govt.)
