Why is Mueller meeting with Trump's personal lawyers next week ??

Last edited Sat Dec 16, 2017, 12:15 PM - Edit history (2)

Who do you think called the meeting?

For what reason would Mueller have requested such a meeting?

What do you think the White House wants to discuss?

This is a very interesting story at this time of the investigation, in my opinion. No doubt, Trump would like to glean as much information as he can gather in order to defend himself.

Or could this be a way for Trump to have an excuse when Mueller makes a request to question he and Pence under oath? He could say that his attorneys have already spoken with the Special Counsel and he sees no need to do it again?

Any ideas what else this meeting could be about?

The meeting is at the request of the White House team, the White House may have been informed that family indictments are imminent; the meeting “in name only” will end with a termination of Muellers investigation.

With Ryan maybe bailing it could be hard to find a latter day Gerald Ford.

I know wishful magical thinking but get your deal while they are hot.

Putting them on notice that Mueller has the goods backed up with evidence.

several possibilities. An important point would be if it is White House lawyers, or Trump's personal lawyers. Trump has attempted to have that line blurred. And it is possible that it includes all of them.

It could be to review if Mr. Mueller is calling specific individuals other than Trump, or Trump, to be either interviewed by investigators, or to testify before the grand jury.

<snip>
(CNN)President Donald Trump's private lawyers are slated to meet with special counsel Robert Mueller and members of his team as soon as next week for what the President's team considers an opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of the next steps in Mueller's probe, according to sources familiar with the matter.
While the lawyers have met with Mueller's team before and might again, the sources believe the upcoming meeting has greater significance because it comes after the completion of interviews of White House personnel requested by the special counsel and after all requested documents have been turned over. Mueller could still request more documents and additional interviews. No request to interview the President or the vice president has been made, sources tell CNN.

I spoke with three people after first reading your response. None of the three would pretend to have "inside information." But there was a general agreement that the personal law team has had previous contact with Mr. Mueller, and for there to be another meeting, it is most likely to discuss a potential interview. It's also possible that there has been a change in status. If so, it would probably be that Trump has become a "person of interest," and possibly a "target." But a potential interview would include discussion of status.

It is not likely that they would be discussing issues specific to other White House officials, or the potential length of the investigation.

Probably letting them know what he's got and what he intends to do with it. A.k.a.: "Don't destroy evidence, don't leave the country, prepare to be boarded....."

That's more than enough time to get the moron to incriminate himself on innocuouc-seeming detalis like where he was a such and such day and who he spoke with, blah blah blah. And then Mueller uses it to nail him to something the idiot can't even remember or understand.

It's really not that hard to bust a stupid crook.

Earlier today someone posted an article about how Mueller reports everything to Rosenstein. Wouldn't Rosenstein report everything to Trump?
