The Republicans Are What We Thought They Were

The Republicans Are What We Thought They Were
First, they pass tax cuts and run up the deficit. Then, they use the deficit to ‘prove’ spending is out of control, and start slashing entitlement programs.
Michael Tomasky 12.15.17 7:41 PM ET

You’re surprised at Bob Corker? Really? Please. Yes, he’s a deficit hawk. And he’s a senator who has, from time to time, made some effort to work in a bipartisan fashion.

But come on. He’s a Republican. He likes tax cuts. He believes, as they all do, in supply-side economic theory. And he has donors and constituents in Tennessee who wanted this.

See what he said in defending his switch from no to yes on the GOP tax bill: He changed because of “many conversations over the past several days with individuals from both sides of the aisle across Tennessee and around the country.”

In other words, rich people.

Besides, he’s not going to buck the team. Not on something like this.

You think this is bad, think about what’s next. What’s next are cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and other domestic spending programs.

The Democratic Party has had this problem, since the Reagan presidency and has effectively done nothing about it!

and really knew they were scum since Dubya.

When given a choice, they will ALWAYS do the wrong thing. ALWAYS - every last single one of them.

In fact the worst of the scum are the Collins, McCain and Graham types - since they are so obviously fake and full of shit when they feign being fair and reasonable.

I despise them all, each and every one.

But they may get to destroy the domestic programs before the crash. That way even more people will suffer horribly. So people dying on the streets, like in the last RepubliCON Great Depression, is kind of what our oligarchs are planning. This is what Trump voters gave us.

Therefore, the only way to undermine such a vote is to eliminate the data-twisting and propaganda that causes one to vote against their own self-interest.

Plain and simple, the talk radio/FOX fact reorganizers need to be put down like a rabid dog. They are TASS. They are PRAVDA. We need to quit pretending that the First Amendment protects fantasy parading as fact. In order to have freedom of the press, we have to identify what qualifies as the press and doggedly protect the truth.

Right now, though, it feels like this is America's time in the barrel and that flimsy barrel is headed over Niagara Falls.

The Republican Party has morphed into a treasonous, criminal enterprise. Money is their god. Anything and everything can be sacrificed in its service, including the lives of millions of Americans, and they will willingly get in bed with the Russians to do it. Corker showed his true colors when he sold out the workers at Volkswagen. As far as having any ethics in reference to the tax bill, he was just holding out for a bigger bribe. When people tell you who they are...

with genuine principles. The tax bill has proved that not a single one of them is either of those. Not even Susan Collins!

They are all bought and paid for by the Koch bros, the Mercer's, Adelson etc.

It's their own personal political party and the GOP will always do what they want including passing welfare for the rich tax bills that 80 plus percent of the American public do not want.

Someone in his office will read an email from me. It says "You lied to me and everyone else. I will never vote for you for anything. You lied."

It will not accomplish one damn thing but I would say it to his face if I got the chance.

As my husband said (we live in Lamar Alexander's home county), we do not expect anything from Lamar, so we do not even try.

Maybe half do, but I think the other half know supply-side is B.S.; they cut taxes for the rich because that is what their donors want and they hate the non-rich so they are "starving the beast" of tax revenue so they have an excuse to cut "welfare" next year.
