There will be no heroes. The Republicans will sell it all to feed and bathe the super rich. Souls are officially for sale.@RepJoeKennedy
A week from today, hours after delivering a massive, unfunded handout to corporations sitting on $2.3 trillion in cash, GOP might shut down the government because providing care for low-income kids would bankrupt us.Link to tweet

The consequences of elections can be grave, America. Voting to shake things up or send an outsider to Washington or going third party to send a message can mean literal life, death or suffering for lots of people. This mess was made by voters, non-voters, cruelty and greed.Link to tweet

(102,287 posts)Keep motivating music on and try to limit how much news obsession I allow myself.
I'm usually pretty "cup half full" but right now, I need a sanity break for the long term and the long fight.

(4,544 posts)I've come to about the same place. My usually half full cup is about empty. I have never in all my long life felt so low. It is almost unbearable. I feel like I am suffocating.

(14,576 posts)Well spoken. Not only should we ALWAYS vote, we should always take the trouble to study what each candidate says, and more importantly what they have DONE in the past. Then, we need to think those things through and choose the candidate that best represents the interests of the most people, ourselves included.
Then, when our candidate enters office, we are STILL accountable as citizens of this Republic to pay attention to what they are doing, and call them or write them to give guidance on how we feel about issues they are confronting and problems they are trying to solve.
Without an active and informed citizenry, any Republic will fall prey to demagogues such as Trump and his criminal and treasonous cabal.
But, hey, we might not have to worry about any of that shortly, because the right wing is trying its best to make this into a fascist dictatorship.
I am not using the word 'fascist' lightly, either. Fascism is a mixture of chest-pounding nationalism and oligarchy, and that's what Trump and his right wing represent.
So, as Joy says in her tweet, we'd better get our shit together because if we don't make some serious and dramatic changes in Washington next November, we all may be in for a long, miserable, violent, ruinous, hungry, thirsty, impoverished ride. Just like the ride the Nazis took Germany on. Consolidation of the state around a Fuehrer, oligarchs in control of the economy, war and then years of starvation, privation and rebuilding once the sane of the world have defeated the fascists.
It isn't good.

(10,183 posts)I guess Trump and the RepubliCONS are hoping it doesn't happen on their watch. But it will happen.
You can NOT take out another trillion dollars from the US economy, hand it to people who are hoarding money right now...according to Joy it's $2.3 trillion that the uber rich are hoarding...and expect that to help the economy. If they are hoarding money now, why does anyone think they wont continue hoarding?

(11,567 posts)They have shown they will get in bed with the Russians as well as blithely let millions of Americans die in order to amass more wealth at the top, all while spouting religious platitudes. This is what a RICO party looks like.
