In 2008 I was working for Obama For America and working on vote protection in Savannah. After working between two black churches during the day that were voting precincts, I went to the results watching party. I was approached by so many middle aged and older Black women who hugged my neck with tears in their eyes simply because I was a young white guy who was on their side (this is what they told me). We all celebrated (even though we lost Georgia, we won Savannah and the Nation) long into the night. It's still one of my Top 5 days of my life. Wow, is there cat dander in here? My eyes are welling up.

It is a party of minorities and coalitions, and many whites are only part of that coalition. It is a Party of African-Americans as much as anyone, in my opinion.
