My brother, nephew and sister are Trump voters. I’m sure there are more in my extended family I don’t know about.

I feel really badly about my nephew and sister, as they have been brainwashed by Fox News and talk radio. My sister voted twice for Obama, but then started watching Fox. She came to hate everything about Obama and started to embrace Trump. She always liked Trump from watching him on his tv shows; she thought a great business leader like him would make the best President. She still thinks he’s great, and she thinks only Fox News tells the truth, anything else is fake news.

So it’s hard to avoid them and treat them like an enemy. This political environment has negatively affected my relationship with my sister, as we don’t see each other much anymore. We often end phone calls on a bad note, because I complain about something Trump did and she rushes to his defense. We end up angry with each other and don’t communicate for days or weeks.

My brother is another story, he has always been a selfish, greedy conservative, who would sell his soul for a tax cut. We have never had much in common to begin with. Trump wasn’t his first or second choice as President, but he was willing to overlook all his faults because he was the Republican nominee. He’s impressed with how well the stock market is doing, doesn’t say a thing about anything else.

Holidays must be hell for you. The only ones in my family are my in laws that live in Arizona and I only see them once a year. My mother in law though is major cool and hates Twitler as much as I do. But one of her daughters family are all loyal rehtugs and the other sister in laws famly are rethugs and the last time I saw her I saw that she was starting to get sucked into the right wing world. It is so cultish.

Our son isn’t political yet, but hopefully he’ll end up in the right place. So at home, we can talk freely.

Holidays are tough, but my mom has a standing rule that no political talk is allowed (at least around her).

Your comment about the right wing world being cultish is true. Critical thinking skills are important, and these skills are missing when someone is brainwashed.

There is 10-12 years between us. She has kids and grandkids. They have both voted to fuck me and her kids and grandkids to hell and back - and done so with no conscience about it at all. The ignorance is astounding.

At one time, I was going to move to closer to them.

Now, I'm not. I'll be retiring right where I am thankyouverymuch, and likely fucking alone and destitute thanks to them.

Just like in the Bush era, near the end of a rethug's time, very few will be willing to admit that they voted for him.

Apparently decades of attacking and underfunding public education and "big gubment" has worked devolutionary wonders on the U.S. population.

Out here in fly over land I avoid them feel like this is a real nightmare. They all have guns hunting season hear them daily! Local news had a story this week showing a gun "safety" program at a local church how to protect your flock...wondering how many sales that made the local gun shop. I have lived in this home for 15 years , loved it as it is a small cottage design that over looks lots of mature trees and I do my best create a wildlife habitat for all of earths creatures. Always spent time outdoors as a child wondering fence rows and realize now with those gone even now how much more habitat is lossed. Anyway never heard these guns till they started letting them hunt in our park. Seems to me that a lot of city people have what we call bug out homes here. They all flock here in summer an bring more with them , (like lockust )the children i have meet through my grandson in the summer months have no respect for birds, frogs ,snakes. Shoot at it ,put in a jar and forget it,its a snake kill it! I worry whats to be for he's future. My surving daughter is a nurse who has lived with a young man for years and have chosen not to have children, because of earths over population she gives money to many wildlife and animal charities. They have 20 to
30 acres of wooded land that she has walked to learn the plants and trees that grow upon it.It is posted as no spray where it border's the roadway.When she goes to work she floats to different floors and comes into contact with many she tells me daily that someone will ask when she plans on children...she gets tired of it. When deer season comes they have out of state people stop and offer them x amount to hunt their land as a nearby neighbor does a few miles away! This summer one morning I saw movement out of the corner of my eye looked up and saw a drone hoovering at the top of a side window,creepy walked out of kitchen towards it and it flew around to one of the back windows. I went out the door and said get the gun ! Have no gun, but it took off and do not know if it was equipped with audio, appeared to have a camera.
Anyway I know I am rattling on and sound nutty ,but in my life of 55 years 3 times have I had the breath knocked out me 2 out of the sudden deaths of my closest family and 11/9 2017. We vote ,we march , we email ,we resist.
