As author Eric Flint once explained it (paraphrasing because I can't find the original quote), if the reader can get free access to the first book or two in a series, they are much more likely to buy the entire series. Flint even showed some stats that proved that adding a book to the Free Library actually increased hardback and paperback sales.

Enjoy!
