and not in, the taxscam, it would be good to e-mail your publican senators' offices over the week-end to let them know YOU HATE IT, think it's a disgrace and want them to vote "NO" on it. Don't allow them to say "everyone wants it".

(25,873 posts)the ending of deducting college loans interest, and won't be treating forgiven tuition for grad students as earned income.
Maybe that was their real plan all along: put in some truly outrageous stuff they could then take out and present themselves as the good guys.
I have a son in grad school. The value of his forgiven tuition is in the neighborhood of $50k per year. He gets a stipend of about $18k per year which he can almost live on. But most of that would go to pay taxes if he were taxed on the tuition.
But gosh, isn't it great to know that the estate tax is going away?

(12,633 posts)since our medical expenses are $50,000+/year, but it's still a horrible bill which will have huge negative consequences for our country.

(25,873 posts)My excuse is that I have no medical expenses -- the occasional bottle of aspirin or over the counter allergy pills hardly counts -- and so hadn't paid attention. But I'm incredibly glad to learn they're keeping the medical expense deduction. It is desperately needed by too many people.
