the repub tax cut is anti families

by doubling the standard deduction and eliminating personal exemptions only childless couples get a benefit

a couple with 1 child breaks even

a couple with 2 children will pay taxes on $4000 more in income

a couple with 3 children will pay taxes on $8,000 more in income

So many upper-middle class to rather wealthy families will start getting child tax credits they didn’t previously get.

It’s all part of the rotten upward redistribution of wealth.

And I’m saying this as someone who will personally benefit from it.

It stinks to high heaven.

If they have been itemizing their deductions, this bill will hurt them even more!

However, that will be offset by the larger child tax credit for those who have eligible children.

you get a $1000 additional credit...basically a wash

while the childless couple gets $4000 exempted from income tax...so now repubs are promoting not having children

They are constantly saying how the Standard Deduction is increasing, while failing to mention that it Includes the Personal Exemption. I am a CPA and am sending a summary to all my clients with the truth. If you had multiple exemptions from dependents, which could mean parents let alone children, your taxable income will now be higher. But hey, Marco got some of you a couple hundred extra bucks.

Sorry I can't be of more help. The rates and levels are easy to find online. They simplified the law by going from 7 Rates to.......7 Rates. Lots of kabuki theatre.

here will be exceptions who end up paying more, though. And Illos and other tax experts said that any family with more than three children might end up paying more under the Republican tax reform plan.

That's because the bill makes a little-noticed but seismic change in the tax code: eliminating the personal exemption, a longstanding tax break that currently allows taxpayers to reduce their taxable income by $4,050 for each dependent in the family.

Republicans argue that by doubling the standard deduction and boosting the child tax credit from $1,000 to $1,400, the GOP tax plan ends up saving families money even without the personal exemption. (Credits, unlike exemptions, are essentially subtractions from a family's tax bill.)

"It does nothing for big families," said Illos,
