1. PETITION TO GET THE HATE-FILLED TABLOIDS OUT OF THE STORES

I am brand new to DU and this method of communication. I want to post this MoveOn petition that our group in Nashville has put together. Is replying to this "thread" the right way to do it?

Our petition and our facebook page:

Welcome to DU. Since you don't have enough posts yet to start threads you can sure put links to petitions in replies. I don't do Facebook so I don't know how that link worked.

I really don't know how many people here actually pay any attention to my petition posts that I've been doing for the past month or so, but I plan to keep doing it, even if it only gets a few new people involved. Gotta do what we can, Right?

Anyway, glad to have you on board.

Hermetic, thanks so much for signing our petition! I still don't see it on "Today's Posts" of petitions. As I said, I am brand new at this. And a resounding YES, we have to all stick together and support each other. Thank you so much for your prompt reply to mine.

how you see DU. I use a regular full sized computer and always start at the Home page. That's where you see the newest videos down the right side, Latest Breaking News in the center, then the left side has lots of options. You can subscribe to this Group so the Subscriptions tab lights up whenever there is a new post here. Going down towards the bottom of the home page, on the left, it says Topics and underneath are the newest posts in all the groups and you will find this post there for a while. I hope you are not now totally confused. The layout for this site is wonderful and if you just poke around a bit you will quickly learn how to find what you are looking for. And you can pretty much just ask anyone and they will help you find your way around.

Have fun and look forward to seeing you around!

Signed,
A long-time MoveOn member.

I really appreciate your detailed reply. As I indicated, I am new to social media and yes, I am totally confused. I am just trying to post our petition on "Today's Petitions" and do feel all at sea. I will try all the stuff you suggested and see if I can't figure out a way to get it listed on Today's Petitions. Thanks very much for your help and for signing our petition. Anyone doubting the relevance of it should google "Politico, tabloids." Thanks again - your welcoming, helpful attitude is encouraging.

6. Here's how this works

We are writing posts in a "Group" called Activist Headquarters. Most every day I write a post in this Group called "Today's Petitions" which is also called a "thread." A thread is the first post and all the replies. In a few minutes I will open a new thread with another post called "Today's Petitions" which will be different petitions than the ones in this thread. There is even a new one from MoveOn. You just keep reading and looking around and it will soon start to make sense. Trust me on this.

I am also a Blue Granny in a Red State. Yay for us!
