My petition for Obama to enforce stricter gun laws

I am a 17 years old Malaysian teen who is dreaming of going to USA to
study and live there since I am a child. Due to my pro USA stance, I
sometimes have some disagreement with my schoolmates who are not as
like-minded as me.

However, recently I am shocked to hear a lot of senseless gun shootings since
Newtown shooting spree. This made me to reconsider my plan to USA and made me
scared that whether I will be the next victim of another senseless gun
incident if Mr President and the Congress hasn't found a way to enforce
stricter gun control laws. So, I, together with WE THE PEOPLE, hopes that
Obama and the Congress will try to tighten the existing gun control laws for
a BETTER & SAFER future.

As it happens in our country, matters of gun control are left to the states, each state handling things differently.

What works for people who live in Alaska and Wyoming might be different from what's right for Connecticut or New Jersey states-- we're a big and diverse country.

Still, there are things that congress and the president could do to rein in some of the flaws in the system and help all the states apply some common sense background checks and preventative measures.

Good luck to you, where ever you may go, Aaron!

Democrats in non-extremely liberal states who support gun controll have a very difficult time. You can ask the democratic state legislators in colorado who were recalled about that! Also many minority americans wonder if gun controll is really aimed at them! The first gun controll act the sulivan law in new york was aimed at returning civil war veterans. And ronald reagan signed the first gun law in california to stop armed black panthers from following police cars around to protect black americans from the police. However here is a start that both gun safety and gun rights groups agree on is keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally unstable. Here laws can be made that both sides agree on also orders of protection maybe used to remove guns also. This is more difficult ;but do able. Back ground checks could have been abtained ;but for to many liberals demanding semi automatic assault style guns be banned and confiscated. He who wants all gets nothing and thats what happened!
