So I gotta question about building in Alaska
I've lives in Alaska on and of for 12 years. My question is this. I'm watching the building off grid shows and I'm a bit confused.
I know homesteading is over. So on one show a family of 5 is in the Hunting Business. I also know that's bigger money than most would imagine, so maybe that's part of this.
Anywho, this family has been staging and bringing supplies out to an area for going on 2 years in the hopes of building an off grid cabin. I mean it's a 6 hour horse ride from their home which is very remote to begin with. So obviosuly you are only getting in by horse, airplane, or snow machine in the winter.
My question is, i guess i really didnt realize that there is land to buy in the just remote areas. Because I'm pretty sure you cant just plop down a cabin wherever you want out there.
I know that technically anyone can utilize the cabin in an emergency. Is this an "unspoken work around" to having to buy the land?
Just curious.
