A woman who was shot Tuesday by Omaha police officers as she wielded knives outside her home died, the department said.
As a result of Tiffany D. Terrys death Thursday night, a grand jury will evaluate the officers actions, a step required by state law. Chief Todd Schmaderer has said that the shooting was justified, based on the totality of the circumstances, predicated by Ms. Terrys actions.
Terry, 39, was shot as she stood on a deck outside her house at 1702 S. 50th St. She had thrown a knife at one of five officers at the scene, police said. She held a second knife that was taken from her hand after she collapsed, they said.
A third knife was found at the scene.

(45,274 posts)but I was very haunted by that face for some reason, and as I sorted out my reaction, this came to mind as a possibility.
Also remember that sometimes you can get fetal alcohol effects without the full syndrome being present.
Nevertheless, you may very well be right & I think I'm seeing something that isn't there.

(115,829 posts)this woman was under the influence of alcohol and some medication she was taking for lupus. So apparently she had a serious health problem, was taking some drugs for it and also was drinking. Not a good combination.

(115,829 posts)Sometimes steroids are used for this. I wonder if her irrational behavior might have been caused or at least aggravated by steroids? In any event, it's sad - couldn't the cops have used a taser to take her down instead of shooting her?

Started taking it in the evening and 'sleeping on it'. Helped a little.
