As to the message.. It would be nice if the pope were to use the platform provided to give the politics of "I got mine, fuck you" a serious bloody nose. But I doubt the invitation would have been extended if that was a real likelihood.

I don't see why this is supposed to be so bad. The Pope is revered by a great number of Americans, Catholic and otherwise.
