Rep. Coffman urges removal of troops from Europe

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Rep. Mike Coffman believes the time has come for American troops to leave Europe.

The Aurora Republican and former Marine will propose pulling all four of the Army brigade combat teams out of Western Europe — including the tactical supporting units such as helicopters and aircraft.

There are 79,000 U.S. military personnel stationed in Europe, mostly in Germany but also in Italy and the United Kingdom.

"The reality of this proposal is that I feel like I have the wind at my back. I think their time has come," Coffman said. "I think if there weren't budget pressures, it would be dismissed. Hey, the military likes it over there. We're not getting complaints from our soldiers in Germany.

Right idea, wrong country. Removal of Afghanistan troops and Iraq troops would be more beneficial for the country in the long run.

And PLEASE stop looking into the military and defense, and international problems.

Please focus on the domestic end of the country - oh, like JOBS?

That's why Coffman is now an endangered Republican when the redistricting was done.

He'll have no chance to win because his district leans more to the Democrats now.

If he wants to run again, fucking move to El Paso County and take the job away from Lamborn.

Tipton and Gardner are also in trouble.

...for all the Generals and Majors who received orders to go there. That is why he started withdrawals of the units from Europe and started to disassemble the bloated command structure there.

We will probably need to keep a hospital at Ramstein until the Arabs run out of oil and we don't have to defend the oil fields.

There may be some sarcasm in this post.

It's time to bring the troops home from WWII!!! Yeah, we need to get out of Afghanistan and remove our "proxy" troops from Iraq, but come on!!! The Warsaw Pact is no more; there is no reason to have combat troops in Europe!
