Ohio Gov. John Kasich heads to early primary state of South Carolina

Source: Washington Post

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a long-talked about potential Republican presidential contender, will travel to South Carolina next week to promote his hawkish brand of fiscal politics in one of the GOP primary’s early voting states.

Kasich’s trip -- his first to a primary battleground this year -- comes as former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and other possible rivals for the 2016 GOP nomination are moving quickly to hire staff and raise money for their all-but-certain bids.

Kasich, 62, who was reelected by a wide margin last year, has been less active in building a national political presence. But by visiting the influential and highly conservative state, he is signaling his interest in connecting with Republicans beyond the Rust Belt.

Kasich’s two-day swing, Feb. 18-19, will feature private meeting with state legislative leaders and party officials, according to several people close to Kasich who are familiar with his plans but unauthorized to speak publicly. Kasich is also scheduled to hold a news conference.

Kasich is the one to fear. He is a founding member of ALEC, he is loved by FOX news,
he has run scams in Ohio that would make Bernie Madoff blush, he might bring in OH for
the repugs in 2016, he and his wall street and banker friends would loot the country dry
given a chance, and he thinks that Jesus walked on earth so one day he can be President.

And he is smooth too. BTW I have known him for years too and in person he is a very
nice guy.

to the local districts.

he is very much someone to watch; He's painting himself as a moderate and I think he looks forward to competing against the other guy who is pretending to be a moderate: Jeb Bush.

He expanded Medicaid and has actually raised taxes on the energy industry. And his sham public-sector union attack law went down in flames, which will be perceived as weakness. I think these things would make it hard for him to win in an GOP Primary. He's more of a threat as a political operative, maybe a potential VP pick. But John Kasich is left of the average Republican voter, as truly insane as that is.

I met Lt. Gov, Mary Taylor once. She seemed like a nice person as well, just on the wrong side!

Btw, Cincinnati here!

.... themselves for the next 10 to 15 years (?) using money borrowed against the back end of
the deal from Wall St/big banks ..... they put in 5 billion and they will get @ least 15 billion
back out and he did through the OH Dept. of Development which he changed into "Jobs Ohio"
which is a private entity that the people couldn't look at. His "left stuff" is just an act to cover
up his scams.

He is a Koch/Sheldon Adelson/Fox News dream boy. And don't kid yourself he wants to close the
USPS, sell of our roads, and get rid of public schools. The man's father was a union mail carrier
and john got a roof over his head and part of schooling paid for by union benefits but he has still
tried to kill off unions.

And at Ohio State he was a big time supporter of the war in Vietnam but he sure wasn't going to
go.

Hell he sold the state of OH $480 million dollars worth of junk paper from Lehman brothers
to the public employees retirement fund and when he got into power in 2011 he was upset
that the retirement fund didn't have enough money in it.

And he's killed off a couple key infrastructure projects; most notably the Three-C rail corridor, which would have been an excellent way to connect our largest cities, create jobs, and reduce congestion on the highways. Depending on what segment you're on, I-71 can be painful to drive, even after they added the third lane north of Cbus.

JobsOhio, what a scam. Literally, big-bad publicly traded corporations are required to be audited. Government entities are audited. How the hell is JobsOhio somehow exempt from an audit??? It's a travesty, and every citizen in the state should be outraged. Even our ass-hat Treasurer Mandel thinks it should be audited.

Governor John is laughing all the way to the bank.
