Report: Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Sent Obama Secret Letter

Source: REUTERS

Officials remain mum on rumors, in consistency with reaction to previous reports of 'private correspondence' between the two leaders.

By REUTERS, MICHAEL WILNER \ 02/14/2015

WASHINGTON - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has responded to overtures from US President Barack Obama amid nuclear talks by sending him a secret letter, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Citing an Iranian diplomat, the paper said the Iranian cleric had written to Obama in recent weeks in response to a presidential letter sent in October.

Khamenei's letter was "respectful," it quoted the diplomat as saying.

The White House declined to comment on the president's "private correspondence" when reports surfaced last year of his penning letters to the Iranian leader, and consistently, they declined to comment on this latest report.

now, if the president will simply tell the military-industrial complex and aipac where to stuff it, we might actually avoid another needless war.

Plotting for him either.

Conversly, just because they are probably not plotting for Bibi, doesn't mean they are plotting against Israel. Stablization and peaceful toleration of each other in that explosive area is a win-win scenario for everyone (except the haters on all sides).

The frequent Israeli government calls for an immediate U.S. war on Iran and threats to go it alone if the U.S. doesn't join in count as more than "plotting."

They've worked together on and off starting since the 1960s starting with the Yemen war (Saudi vs. Egypt in Yemen), though there have been occasional breaks such as with the 1973 Arab-Israeli war and subsequent Saudi oil boycott.
