Eastern United States braces for yet another massive winter storm
Source: Reuters
A fresh band of winter weather was pounding parts of the Tennessee and Ohio valleys with snow and rain on Saturday as it headed toward the U.S. East Coast, threatening to bring more misery to storm-weary Boston.
The system cut a 2,000 mile path from southern Missouri to Maine, with a winter storm warning in effect until Sunday for parts of southern Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
In Kentucky and Tennessee, forecasters warned of possible flooding as rain fell on frozen ground.
The system was expected to bring a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow from Washington to New York City, followed by another blast of bone-chilling cold.

(6,399 posts)they say, as we get incredible new snowfalls in the area. Towns near me now qualify as the snowiest cities in the country, which has been unheard of compared to the Michigan area, and we've had the snowiest month on record since keeping track - which for New England goes back quite a ways.
Days upon days of subzero temperatures with windchill and lots of single digit days not including it are not the norm. And it's having a huge impact on a lot of things.
But if you try and talk about climate change, you're told it's all just normal...

(7,473 posts)Snow piles from plows and drifts up to about 15 feet. Cannot get out of driveway because of plowed piles blocking roadway and I'm am afraid to drive, even if I could get out. And to think, last year at this time I visited my family in Florida and they said it was cold at about 60 degrees!
Phooey on this. After the snow melts, we will all be pumping, floods everywhere. Don't tell this old timer that there is no such thing as climate change!
I just hope my sump pump does not die during the big melt, whenever it comes.

(10,575 posts)Florida's recent deep freeze sent the thermometer below 32 degrees for quite a few hours, but no precipitation meant no ice or snow but thanks to a snow machine, some kids in Arlington have a different story to tell. Blake Mathews has the story.

(23,340 posts)We will have over 10" by the time this stops and turns into rain late tonight. Biggest storm of the year for us here in the DC area, much less than areas further north.
and supposed to go up into the 40s tomorrow!
