'Choose Life Michigan' license plate would raise funds to promote abortion alternatives
Source: Mlive.com
A Michigan Senate panel on Thursday advanced legislation that would create a "Choose Life" license plate to raise funds for groups promoting abortion alternatives.
The plates would cost $35, including a $25 donation and $10 service fee. Proceeds would be directed to a new fund, which would be responsible for covering state startup costs and distributing grants.
"The overarching goal it to make sure that we've got life-affirming policies and resources put in place for mothers that are finding themselves in not ideal situations," sponsoring Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton, said after a 4-1 vote in the Senate Transportation Committee.

Nothing more important to do in our gerrymandered paradise for our Michigan legislature which was taken over by the American Taliban in 2010.
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

(115,677 posts)Being pregnant does not make anyone a "mother". Yes, there are plenty of women/girls with babies who are mothers and having difficulties and could use help like, oh, say free or low cost good daycare, job training, housing, food, etc etc etc etc etc etc ad nauseum.
But noooooo. Let's instead guilt them into making the choice these twits want them to (whatever the fuck "chose life" means) by offering car seats, baby clothes for the first couple months. And yes, I've run afoul of them before.
Do they offer contraception that works to prevent pregnancy? No. Just infant clothes for your "unborn precious baby".

Maybe if the gerrymandered state legislators make big enough fools of themselves, often enough, the public will open their eyes. Maybe:

Or is the money going to some church that has ties to the State's Office?
You can bet that mone is going towards something that doesn't add any value towards society.

(unless you miscarry or have some kind of awful accident, but those aren't choices one can make)
there are alternatives to raising the child yourself, but not to pregnancy.
